I think the key thing here for the additional Agricultural levy increase amounts to the fact that the Govt has reduced/eliminated expenditure supporting Agri-aviation....
"An increase to the Agricultural Operations Safety Levy was needed to counter the LOSS of half a million dollars in Crown funding."

Ron Mark: (Stuff) "This situation, and the other ones we are faced with around the country, is exactly why we are conducting a First Principles Review of the Defence Estate Footprint. "We need to decide on, regenerate, and protect our estate so the Defence Force can continue to serve our nation effectively." In the meantime, the team at Defence would continue to seek changes under the Auckland Unitary Plan, he said. "And I hope they are successful. He said he was overwhelmed by the support for the airbase from residents on social media. His decision was a clear and loud message to anyone buying into the area that they would be buying into an operational airforce base that deployed men and women in uniform to help others. "I make no apology for issuing this certificate and advise anyone who is thinking of purchasing a home near Whenuapai, that you are moving into an area where a military airbase has operated since World War II. "There will continue to be noise generated by military aircraft and you need to accept that." www.stuff.co.nz/national/116574054/defence-minister-trumps-environment-court-decision-on-whenuapai-airbase-engine-noiseGreat news and great support from the Minister.

Hi BaileyT - I have aviation interests but am a Mechanical Engineer. You ask about Algebra and Calculus - these are the basic fundamentals to understanding motion - Algebra more about logic equations which help in all of the future calculus of Integration and differentiation which define motion. These two elements are the basis of Newtons Laws of motion and you can derive the equations for acceleration and velocity with these tools - that was what made maths and calculus interesting for me - solutions to real life situations and examples. The reality gave me a hunger for learning and understanding physics which is basically the application of Newtons Laws and power and energy come into play as well. My daughter was good at Maths at High School, and while at a Careers day at Waikato University, she was told she was meant to be an Inventor - started with Engineering at university - ended up a High School Maths teacher haha! As others have said - you have to enjoy what you are doing - find the joy in the solutions, enjoy English because for most careers, you need to communicate well, and to follow rules, to be obediant LOL! Good luck with your studies and your quest. Get out to aerodromes or Airfields and ask about flying, talk aeroplane language! Or just follow on here!! Graeme

Historically very significant for our project - Typhoon Legacy Co Ltd, if we may I would like to get 400dpi copies of each page please - the quality shown is very good. Then we could hold it as a copy of an original!! I could arrange a Dropbox folder to send to or send to an email sutherg53@gmail.com. Happy to send a donation too Is 2/6 enough ? LOL! Even pics of the covers would be great, and the blank back page or whatever... www.typhoonlegacy.com also on Facebook. Hawker Typhoon 1B JP843 609 WR Squadron; Pilot Officer Peter Price (ex Auckland) died at the hands of the Germans when he bailed and landed. JP843 restoration project in Comox Valley, Vancouver Island, BC. I have his Pilot's Logbooks scanned as digital pdf books. I could send copies to the Museum. Ooops - I am assuming too much - this may be at RAF Hendon?? Graeme

It reminds me of the woman going shopping - buys a new handbag but then needs new boots and belt to match, and then a new jacket and hat...
but I do understand the reasoning above - in the past, buying all that they could afford or were allowed to within the budget - always had military expenditure cramped so less than ideal equipment was purchased. It has not lasted, is now under-specced for safety and mobility and durability. This is good news.

I am also presuming that the RAAF has struck a financial deal as well, supporting the aircraft maintenance and long term storage costs and overheads, so money has transferred - well a budget has been promised to TAM I assume - which would be a good thing - and a commitment shown for at least the first 5 years.

Did Sir Keith Park ever have any active involvement in the early war? On further study, he was in War Office Planning and attack strategies under Dowding already. My bad.

I remember a Michael Daniel as a Doctor in Masterton - would that be correct? Had a lovely home and swimming pool in a new subdivision with a view of the Tararuas around 1965 or so.
My uncle was Trevor Daniel, radar operator in UK during WWII.

I believe that within the penitentiary system he may be dealt a suffering blow from other incarcerated inmates. Lets hope he suffers as there is not enough punishment for planning over 18 months this heinous act of cowardice and brutal aggression where 49 people so far have been slaughtered. Karma will define his fate!! I know this is a radical negative view and as a Christian I should show compassion and forgiveness but I'm sorry to say I cannot fogive this act of terrorism on our peaceful land.
