My Casio watch and strap are made of Titanium, a soft dull grey metal, very strong and light. But that Nitinol is something else. Fascinating stuff!

Are the mags for the car??? Nah, just kidding - that's good news at this stage. I have a large exploded view picture of Gipsy Major in digital form if you want it. It's good to get the details fixed. Keep up the story!

So that makes the hill on the right to be Rotokawa beyond Te Ngai/Owhata. Looks like the right shape too. The winds indicate a good westerly meeting a cooler on shore breeze.

I hope he had his U/C down to start with as a touch and go otherwise his props were close to chopping the turf...

Lovely to see the Avenger and P40 together - thanks! The weather certainly helped! Northerly blowing?

A very thorough presentation and an excellent photo essay of a one-off fabulous and impressive plane. A good use of variety of lenses. Thanks for posting.

I can't see the picture right now (08:50 Sat 22nd Feb) either Dave - and I am a logged in member of Flikr right now. It says "This image or video is currently unavailable" and the image has been replaced by a GIF called "photo_unavailable.gif" I think it was of 49A25.jpg seen here... www.flickr.com/photos/112125468@N06/12669569793/in/photostream/

I liked the humour of the Tecnam being followed by the Casa 295 both taxiing and just after takeoff... The doors - the rear door is on the port side so have one of each plus an emergency hatch on port side at front as well.

I liked the coments on the bottom of the flyer -
"Present your pilots licence at Robert Harris Cafe on the day and receive a complimentary coffee.
Airways NZ fees and Rotorua Airport landing charges have been waived for the day."
Thanks.
