Yeah I know. I designed the longeron as one piece but stuffed it up as it looked too short so decided to extend it. I keep seeing that and may actually go back down to the Timber outfit and get a one piece length. Only problem is it will make it about 5-6m long and so is not that easy to transport on the roof of our car without severely bending !! I might also make the main rotor longer at some stage. I just worry about our Wellington winds breaking it with too much leverage on the hub. With Safety (yeah I know I have to do it),...when I get the slide and make the ladders,..I'm putting down rubber matting etc. Have to comply with the Safety Code apparently. Attachments:

I know when it's 10.30pm every week night because the NZ Post F27 thunders low over our house in Newlands after taking off from Wellington Airport. Depending on the weather she gets lower than normal sometimes. Those Darts vibrate the house and all my stuff on the shelves !! Ha, I love it !!

Thanks guys, I know what you mean, Diamond. It has been a struggle sometimes. @ Bruce - I did think about playing "The Doors - The End" at the wee fellahs birthday party but thought the lyrics "Mother, I want to kill you..." may not be appropriate......

Cheers, Joe @ ngatimozart - I have a Super Jolly HH-53 plastic model in the SEA colour. Did consider it but the Mrs thought the Olive Drab and dark green camo would be better. After all, she is helping paint it and has some say ....

Thanks all. Yup, a coat of lumbersider is going on it this weekend. Unsure on the colour scheme yet, whether it's desert camo or just simple olive drab.

Probably a little big to be like an Apache or Hueycobra,...but could be like Mi-24. I'll see if the wife approves of air to air or air to ground missiles being attached...

Heya, Long time since I've posted on here but do pop in to see some very interesting posts from time to time. Thought I'd show you my playhouse project I've been working on for the last couple of months. Designed it on CAD and have been working on it tirelessly. Going to have slide out the back with ladders on each side, going to have perspex windscreens and windows. Also will be painted in camouflage....and maybe a water cannon mounted in the doorway ;D The kids can't wait for it to be finished !! cheers, Chris Attachments:

The French don't operate Orions...ther main ASW/MP aircraft is the Atlantic....don't think any of those have visited NZ? I guess that's what confused me as I also thought they only operated Breguet Atlantiques. This is what the forum is for

Was that a French Navy P3 Orion I saw parked up at the RNZAF park at Welly Airport yesterday? Dark blue with a huge anchor on the tail. Interesting

Haven't been there since I was a wee boy in the '70s so assume it's changed a little....

Back to the V, I'm wondering how long it would take to start one of those and get it off the ground to intercept the Glen while the floatplane does it's mission, lands, stows away aboard the sub and dives...... ;D

In the Glen's wiki it says
"The "Glenn" also has the distinction of being the only aircraft to drop bombs on the United States mainland during World War II, in an incident known as The Lookout Air Raid. On 9 September 1942 , Chief Warrant Officer Nobuo Fujita, a pilot in the Japanese Imperial Navy, and his crewman, Petty Officer Shoji Okuda, surfaced in submarine I-25 off the coast of Oregon near Brookings. His tiny seaplane had folding wings and was transported in a small hangar attached to the deck of the submarine. The bombs - 76 kg (168 lb) incendiaries intended to cause forest fires - caused no injuries or real damage."

oops.... I guess it's more my lack of knowledge on fighter defence of Wellington in 1942 question more than anything else. But yes a meatballed floatplane flying over Welly back then would have been scary to see...
