I spy the wing tip of another interesting aircraft in your second photo Dave. Do you have any other photos of Josephine?

Very good stuff Mr 43 Willys. I reckon the tall guy in the dust coat is the late Dave Jenkinson (formerly of Ohaupo) who worked for Larsen for several years and then when the melting-down operations were complete, Dave worked for Aero Engine Services Ltd and through to NZ Aerospace Industries. Dave Jenkinson had a large collection of the graveyard and "salvage" operations of his own. I think these are now in the care of the Royal Aeronautical Society (Hamilton Branch). Can anyone comment on the origin of these photos above and on the guy in the dust coat? OJ These are copies of some of Mr. Jenkinson's collection of photographs. I'm not sure if thats him in the dust coat, but i may have a photograph of him standing in front of Josephine.

Is an excellent improvement on the photographs, you may get the job of doing the rest of my scrapyard photos sometime. These photos were taken in 1964 and i pressumed it was the last of Larsen's stuff being transorted up to Asplins. But that may well be the Kittyhawk that John Chambers got.

PAC will be closed for Christmas and does not re-open till the 18th of January. I will make enquires and see if its possible for someone to open up on the 17th. But don't hold your breath. Turning up to work on your last day of your holiday does not exite most people.

Im suprised there was not 20 people down the gully the day after the paper article. 8 or 9 of us use to spend the afternoon down there a few years back and pulled out some nice stuff.

Went to a friends place in the weekend to look at a army truck he had found. He also showed me some aircraft stuff that was found around the truck. Two Corsair bomb racks, some ammo boxes, flexible chutes for feeding the 50 cal's and a seat. He said there was more stuff there where the truck had come from. So next week we will go back and have a look.

Four or five years ago me and a mate were on a farm north of Auckland looking for military vehicle parts, found some interesting items sitting around. I think it had came from a playground as it had a lot of names scratched into the paint

The fire was put out by a guy named Dean Eynon who was sitting close by in his jeep and saw the whole thing unfold right in front of him. Luckily he had a fire extinguisher on hand in his jeep. I believe he got the fire put out before the pilot even realized he had a problem. Im not too sure about the damage on the plane.
