What is the desert P-40 representing? Is it a genuine USAAF P-40 scheme from the North African or Med campaign? If so, did they take over some of the RAF P-40's with the sharks mouhs, or did they copy the idea? I've never seen that one before. Dave, it's a good representation of a 325th FG scheme (Checkertail Clan) but I've never seen one with the shark's mouth. Perhaps it represents a specific aircraft or the owner likes his P-40s with teeth?! So many Bearcats... ;D

No worries at all, fb6. Terence Kelly is a Pom, though, but his story adds to the other books discussed here.
Great, exciting news. Looking forward to the release of this book.

I think, given PJ's knack for aviation authenticity (I've only heard good things about his WWI work both in NZ and Australia), that he wouldn't consider Tom Cruise but someone who either has the accent already or is good at accents!

Well done, that man!
Tony, nothing wrong with 'only wings' but I do hope you prove him wrong. All the best. Looking forward to this big thing you've just come across.

Gawd, that's gorgeous. I don't think I've seen that canopy on a Fox Moth before.

And if you want to rea another amzing, gripping book by an airman who was in Singapore and managed to escape the Japs, read the incredible book 'You'll Die in Singapore' by Charles McCormac. It's available for free on Google books if you can't find a real version. Was in a bookshop in Wagga today and just about fell over when I saw a sole, brand new copy of this on the shelf. Looking forward to reading it!

Was just thinking the same thing.
My second question was: They have the money to do a new museum?

Are the Subritzkys still rebuilding an Oxford to fly?

Great to hear the CAA saw it for what it was.
Totally agree with your comments, Phil. Although it's an old story, looks like the news services got hold of it yesterday. The old pilot was interviewed and struck me as a a fine gentleman and consummate professional even though he's retired.

Phwoar, great pics and an interesting story. Is she well known by Cat experts? Looks pretty stock externally - blisters and nose turret - but, I suspect, a 'bridge too far'?

Wouldn't that make the the Yanks think the Kiwis had gone commie? Never seen a Vietnam Airlines aircraft before. That's nicely presented. Just went back and read the entire thread - bloody nice work, Colin.

Brilliant news. Full credit to Lambis Englezos who kept at it and pinned down the location.
Never cease to be amazed when things like roadworks uncover forgotten graves. So moving.
