Having been a long term resident of Perth, and living in South Guildford right next to the airport, I think a few people need to harden up. Perth Airport is not at all busy when compared to other major airports in Australia. Also, because of Perth's location, everyone in the city is likely to hear or see an airliner as they head west, east and north.
As to Pearce? It's been there longer than the hills' residents who are making the complaints! They knew who their neighbours were when they moved in. Pearce's most active inhabitants are the turboprop PC-9s and the Hawks. Not super noisy aircraft in the great scheme of things.

I reckon that's a Liberator - one with a nose turret (or used to have one). To me, the empennage above the window is the giveaway.
What a great collection.

Am I seeing things or does the first pic look like she had noseart and a mission tally on her starboard nose? Great pics.

Whistling Death for the Corsair? Yep. Could apply that to the Boomerang as well but don't think it ever was.

Cheers, lads. I posted the above, thought "I'll google that", and promptly got distracted by a slice of homemade cheesecake.

I don't think I've seen so much 75 Sqn noseart in one place. Thanks guys.

First I've heard of it, Dave, but it is now near the top of my wishlist.
Can you recommend a seller?

Nah Colin, he was probably here to view the Hurricane before the auction so he can buy it and use it in his Billy Fiske film ;D ;D Oh dear God, no!

Excellent collection, Santiago, well done. Cobber Kain's aircraft sprang to mind immediately but you've got that sorted aready. I was going to suggest Brian Carbury but had to check what he flew - Spitfire.
S/L Derek Ward DFC and Bar who commanded 73 Sqn in (joy of joy) North Africa. No idea what his Hurri would have looked like but a desert scheme to go with the other two chin-radiator Hurris you've got already? He was shot down by Marseille.

I've heard 'Slow But Deadly' (SBD) but, again, think it's an American thing.

Wow, stunning photos. I've often wondered why we haven't got more 'serious' with tankers - beyond the Skycranes of course.

Bloody well hope so. One of the Hornets is going to be in 75 Sqn colours apparently so...
...and a formation with the Meteor and Vampire...dribble.

Looking forward to seeing her fly on Saturday. Saw her in the hangar last week - just magic standing next to that 'potential'.

What's your name? Andy Wright
Where are you from? Australia - lived all over
How old are you? Almost 33
What is your main interest in aviation? Is it historic? Airlines? Military...
Everything but focussing on RAF and Commonwealth aircrew during WWII.
Tell us about your background in aviation. Are you just an enthusiast or have you got more hands on experience? Are you a pilot? Do you have an Air Force Background? Or a civil aviation background?
An enthusiast before anything else. Back in 2000 and 2001 got my hands dirty on the Liberator and Beaufort restorations respectively. Also about that time I did slave labour with a good friend in Western Australia (where I was living at the time) whose business focussed on Tiger rebuilds. We also worked on a Stearman, Cessna 180s, various Austers and a pair of Winjeels. Other than that, I'm an avid reader, particularly of aircrew memoirs. Have done a bit of flying but nothing official.
Do you belong to any aviation groups, like the NZ Warbirds, RNZAF Association, Royal Aeronautical Society or CAF, etc?
Just joined up as a volunteer at Temora.
Are you an aircraft modeller? (Scale or R/C)
No any more. Built a few 1/48 scale jobs.
What are your favourite aviation books?
As I've hinted at, I collect memoirs or biographies about mainly Commonwealth aircrew from the war. No real focus but North Africa and Burma are favourites.
What are your favourite aviation films or TV programmes?
Enjoy anything with flying in it.
Do you frequent other aviation forums?
Warbirdz, Pacific Wrecks and WIX but am only a semi-regular poster on Warbirdz.
Not sure how often I'll post but hope to learn a lot here. Hope this finds everyone well.
