Three Stearmans in formation? How cool! This is turning out to be a much better line-up than I thought a month ago.
I can't wait for the pics and videos from those who are going.

Yes three Stearmans...Ive just been chatting to one of the pilots...(fellow simmer).
Had a sneak look of whats there now ...the two Seat Spit, both Kittyhawks, the Mustang...
It's raining here now but should clear up for the weekend..I guess Brendon's Spitfire won't be here until tomorrow as as its turning a bit IFR

I would expect this front to go through pretty quickly maybe by 5-6 pm. Met service now showing southwesterly breeze for Sunday

Looks like the Red Checkers will not be performing anymore due to one of them having a forced landing enroute. No-one hurt AIR FORCE AIRCRAFT MAKES FORCED LANDING A New Zealand Defence Force spokesperson has confirmed that an engine problem with the lead Air Trainer (Red Checkers 1) required it to make a forced landing North of Waiouru at 1620 (approx) today. The aircraft was flying from Ohakea Air Base in the Manawatu, and was enroute to Tauranga for the Tauranga Air Show. The aircraft sustained some damage but there was no reported injury to the pilot, who was the only person on board. The site is being secured and the incident is under investigation . As a precaution the Red Checkers will not be flying this weekend. ENDS.

Well the weather cleared nicely this evening, it's a clear starlit sky tonight, but the wind is bloody freezing. Will summer ever actually get here I wonder?

Dunno what its like in Cambridge Dave, but here in Tauranga its an absolutely SUPERB day, barely a cloud in the sky, will be great for the crowds-should be the same tomorrow-I'll be packing the sun tent into the car as a precaution!

I just saw a convoy of ten aeroplanes (there may have been more) headed from Rukuhia way right over top of Leamington where I am and towards Tauranga. I assume it was part of the Sport Avex activities or maybe just airshow goers. One looked to be the orange Bird Dog I think but I was looking toward the sun. Others were Cessnas and other light low wing types.

I don't know what public access is like, but if you want to get a bit closer,I just spoke to my brother on the phone(been trying to get him all week),and he said if you go over and say I sent you,he'll see what he can do about getting you 'behind the scenes'. Go to the fire brigade(Tga airport, not the Mount and Tga volunteer crews)and ask for Chris, tell him his brother Dave sent you. Can't guarantee anything, but you don't ask,you don't get!
