For the unitiated, that's the 28th and 29th of January, 2012. This from their website: Tauranga City Airshow 2012 Announced 28th and 29th of January (Auckland Anniversary Weekend) On the 28th and 29th of January 2012, Tauranga will be the place to be when the Tauranga City Air Show fills the skies over the city's airport again, providing a dynamic event for both Bay of Plenty citizens and visitors alike. At the airport will be the best display aircraft available in New Zealand, with a full on spectacle from classic piston engine and jet fighters, supported by a wide range of other aircraft, including those of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, helicopters and civilian aerobatic teams. The conference of the Sport Aircraft Association of NZ will add to the experience with more than 100 aircraft from their New Zealand wide membership attending that same weekend. This time there will be a full airshow on the Saturday and Sunday with full family fun programs run on both days. Expect balloon rides, live music , skydivers, gliders, a great range of food and refreshments, a host of trade and topical interest exhibits right through to heavy military iron and battle re-enactments. Check out www.taurangaairshow.co.nz/ for further details.

Interesting that SAA will have 100 aircraft there. With the airport closed 10am to 4.30pm on Sat and Sunday there wont be much SAA flying will there. The event will resemble a circus going by the blurbs so far. I will watch with interest as developements appear..

It resembled a circus last time with all the big-top tents in front of the crowd.

Well I know of one certain fast jet at Tauranga that's been out of the air for a while, would be great to see it flying again.

It was the highlight of the 2006 show. I can't wait to see it perform again.

Would it be JIL as it is no longer registered? Has someone bought it and restoring it?
Cheers

Yes, the owner of the HH has been asked if he can get it flying for the airshow .. as it has been sitting in the museum since 2007 it needs some work on systems and engine, but even if thats all sorted it isn't going anywhere until I get the seat serviced, and reinstalled ... a busy time for me right before xmas!!
