Yes that is me the Ugly one in the front. Great meeting you last weekend Hairy and thanks for sorting our Comms problem. You are always welcome at the hangar; perhaps you should join us at the War birds Bar one Sunday night for a couple of quiets. My shout.
Cheers Simon

An interesting thing about your lovely Harvard Simon is it spent time in two museums, Motat and the Taranaki Aviation and Transport Museum. Nice to know it is back in the air rather than in a museum.

What a nice looking Harvard. I never get sick of seeing that RNZAF training colour scheme: always reminds me of days spent on the fenceline around Wigram in the 1970s and 80s. And it sure beats that bloody horrid (Tonka?) yellow that the Airtrainers are now painted in! ;D

There is good reason for the yellow scheme. Wigram usually had lovely blue skies where visibility was good. Ohakea on the other hand has apparently never seen blue sky (definately not during the four months I was posted there).
It's always grey and miserable and wet and windy and murky there, and at the time when the CT-4's moved to OH there were a number of well hidden green fast things moving about the sky that needed to see the slow trainers in the circuit.

Welcome to the forum Blake. Great to see more young enthusiasm.
It's interesting to see the younger members love Top Gun as much as my generation did.
These days I prefer to watch Hotshots, but Top Gun is still a great classic.

And Mine! Battle of Britain is fantastic from all angles i look at such things, as historian, aircraft enthusiast and film maker!
If you want to find out more about the film, I HIGHLY recommend the excellent book Battle of Britain by Leonard Mosley. This guy followed the crews around while they made the film and documented the entire process from its inception through to gathering the planes, shooting and release in every detail. It's brilliantly written and a huge insight into the amazing task it was to bring the film to the screen.

Okay, Well my name's Jen Hayes or Cpl.Hayes to many and I'm from Auckland (or I live there anyway) and I'm one of the many CDTs in No.4 Sqn Ardmore (hence Hardmore). I'm 15yrs of age and I'm mostly just involved for a bit of adventure, I was originally looking to join the RAAF, as my cousin's in it and they actually have planes, but now I've gone in another direction so I'm just looking for a headstart on achieving my PPL when I'm of age to apply. As for me I have a family of plane-mad relatives. I shant go back to many generations or I'll bore you so I'll start with the Grandparents. My Grandma (My Mother's Mother) was in the RAF during WWII as a nurse and my Fathers Foster Dad was also in the RAF, only he was flying planes. My Mother's Brother was in ATC in Britain as a teenager and appeared to have enjoyed it immensely, and his Father, my Grandpa, had quite an interest in planes also. My Cousin on my Fathers side is in the RAAF, as mentioned above, as an engineer so I have posters, etc. from him all over my bedroom walls (along with my trophies and certificates from various Final Parades) and also my Brother as quite an interest in planes also and will be studying Aviation Engineering at Uni' next year...so as you can see it's quite a Family liking on both sides...Also as mentoned above I'm part of No.4 Sqn Ardmore, currently as a Cpl.
So yes...that pretty much sums up the Aviation-side of me so if you have any queries drop us a line! (And btw there is much much more to know about me it's just not aviation-related that's all)

Welcome Jen, it sounds like you'll enjoy it here. What a great family background. Feel free to invite your brother and cousin to also join us (we have an RAAF board as you've probably seen).
Which university teaches Aviation Engineering? Is that Massey (Palmerston)?
Cheers Dave

Massey Auckland I believe, he'll be doing the course through Auckland Uni' if he gets in; if not then Canterbury...I'm not so sure about where Aviation is done with Canterbury Uni' though...any ideas?

Hi Guys Thought it about time I introduced myself as I have popped in a few times since seeing the link from Kiwi Resin Models. Name:Anthony Galbraith Location: Christchurch Age: 37 Main Interests etc: Anything to do with NZ aviation really. Although being I am a rep I do get to see a few aircraft collections around the country on my travels. Last month I droped in and saw Glyn Powell and hiss Mossie project and boy it is amazing! I had quite a lot to do with Mustang project NZ 2406 which went to my good friend Philip Warner in the UK and now in the states to become hopefully one of the most authentic Mustang rebuilds. There has been lots of stories go around about her but not all necessarly true. Sadly though she will be painted as ANOTHER American one(but of course that is their choice)at least she will fly again. I make mostly 1/48 NZ related models as I am married with one 2.5yr old and another on the way! I see you have a link to Hyperscale to my 1/48 Avenger model NZ 2504 in the silver/yellow/black markings(won some 1st places in the NZ IPMS nats-didnt expect that as I have never entered a model in a show before....too embarassed to but got talked into it). I am nearly finished a Tamiya 14sqn FG-1D Corsair, which actually needed a lot of mods to be accurate. Hoping to do a civvie one next........but the new CT-4B is looking like a contender too. Oh also am working on a 32nd TA-4K(KAHU)superdetail project, everything is being reworked, here is the link: forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=8567&s=004080ddb2481fe5067bd5b0d632b784Also I am looking at a real Tiger project in the UK for sale that is super cheap and incl lots of brand new stuff, still waiting on pics and approval from Belynda!!! Fav Book: The Topdressers(both editions) Dont go to too many forums except a few model ones and WIX from time to time(not reg with them). Anyone still awake after this book? ?? Anyway great site Dave and will try and participate more. Kind regards Anthony
