Hi all, we now have loads of members from around the world, and lots more non-members breezing in for a regular check of the forums. There are really only a small proportion of these who regularly post here, some members have never made posts and most haven't filled in their profile yet. I reckon we shouldn't stand on ceremony. We're all friendly here. It would be nice if everyone could introduce themselves a little- you may make some new friends and good contacts. And this will be good for newcomers to read about the other members. I thought maybe if I post a questionnaire you could copy it, paste it into a new post, and then give your own individual answers. If you don't want to answer particular questions, simply write N/A for no answer... Here goes What's your name? Thane Zander - nickname in Navy was Zaps. Where are you from? All over NZ, last 14 years in Palmy. How old are you? 60 next week .What is your main interest in aviation? Is it historic? Airlines? Military... I love anything really, but my penchant is Navy vessels, especially old ones.. Tell us about your background in aviation. Are you just an enthusiast or have you got more hands on experience? Are you a pilot? Do you have an Air Force Background? Or a civil aviation background? For 9 yeaars I worked in Mine Countermeasures and spent more time flying than seatime (RNZAF and Civvy Air) Do you belong to any aviation groups, like the NZ Warbirds, RNZAF Association, Royal Aeronautical Society or CAF, etc? Are you an aircraft modeller? (Scale or R/C) What are your favourite aviation books? What are your favourite aviation films or TV programmes? Do you frequent other aviation forums? No sorry Have you any comments or suggestions for this forum, to hopefully improve your own personal usage and enjoyment on the forum? Everything is rather cool.

Sorry hadn't spotted that one should be introduced! here we go...
What’s your name?
Sue Bremner
Where are you from?
England
How old are you?
Old enough to know better!
What’s your main interest in aviation> Is it historic? Airlines? Military…
My main interest is historic aviation, both owning and having helped with the research and build of Bristol Scout 1264.
Although she is kept in the UK, we have an affinity to NZ as granddad FDH Bremner (RNAS) flew the original 1264 on Imbros and Thassos 2 small islands off the cost of Greece during the Gallipoli Campaign. The RNAS remained there after the evacuation.
Also, due to the fact TVAL supplied the engine and is such an amazing source of information, preservation and restoration keeping the skills from yesterday alive today. Its factory in Wellington is amazing!
Tell us about your background in aviation?
Although I can fly our Escapade, I have no other background in aviation.
I provide all the social media for Bristol Scout: Rebuilding Granddad’s Aeroplane via Facebook and Twitter which are (I hope) punchy, fast and colourful. David writes the blog which is far more highbrow and technical!
Do you belong to any aviation groups?
As the Bristol Scout we are associate members of ‘Navy Wings’ and the ‘Vintage Aircraft Club’
Are you an aircraft modeller?
No not myself, but David and Theo have both been modellers and are aircraft builders (full size) . We liaise a lot with modellers who are building Bristol Scouts.
What are your favourite aviation books?
My personal favourite is The Shepherd by Frederick Forsyth as it sent shivers down my spine. I read an awful lot about WWI aviation but this tends to be through research online and via museums etc.
What are your favourite aviation films or TV programmes?
Of course I have to say The DVD Documentary ‘Bristol Scout: Rebuilding History’ which is due to be shown on TV in Greece, USA and Australia - it appears to be too 'highbrow' for BBC in UK! And ‘Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines’
Do you frequent any other aviation forums?
No, yours was the one that struck me as interesting! But I do belong to a Great War forum. I tend to belong to 'groups' on Facebook.
Have you any other comments or suggestions for this forum?
Just to thank you for letting me join in. I will use the forum and if any comments/suggestions occur to me I shall let you know.

Morning All, I pop into the forum from time to time, bit more regular now.
Kiwi through and through, grew up in the venison recovery days, hitching rides with many of the crews around the country to shoot photos. Was a regular contributor to NZ Wings when Ross and Callum owned it. Now publish three aviation magazines - HeliOps (civil helicopters), HeliOps Frontline (Military Helicopters) and a brand new one called Air Attack covering the world of Aerial Fire Fighting. Still get out and shoot aviation here in NZ when I can and when I am home.
Will look to contribute here when I can.
Cheers
Neville 'Ned' Dawson

Hi, I,m Paul.Have made a few posts here so I thought I should make it a bit more formal now. Live in WestSussex , UK. Am in my mid 60's. Aviation interests; well nearly all. In particular historic civil and military and pre 21st century airliners harking back to late 1940s. Military much the same as above and earlier. In my youth spent a few years with the Air Training Corps and reached a goal of gaining my Glider wings completing a gliding course with three solos in a Kirby Cadet Mk.3. Naturally did some other flights in the Chipmunk and courtesy of a few ATC summer camps got flights in a Short Belfast and Westland Wessex. Also very much in to modelling in 1/144, 1/72 and some in 1/48th scales. Sometimes have themes I try to stick to. Usually inspired by a couple countries outside Europe such as Canada and now New Zealand. Most recently, took a longish holiday in February in New Zealand and fell in love with the country! Visited a few collections but not enough in the month long visit but I will be back...2020 is in planning stages. Currently employed by an aviation company as inspector handling airliner spares for world wide distribution. Finally got a job in aviation before retirement, which I have ignored for now. Need to save money for my dreams!!
Meanwhile I hope to learn some interesting and useful information for my modelling purposes and make some new acquaintances.

Just joined up here, didn't know this proboard existed, so well done you lot that put this together and manage it, I admire people that start something up and stick with it. About me, Norm Edwards, ex-RNZAF (1982-2002)SADMCLK, retired as a Warrant Officer, last posting was at HQJFNZ, started there not too long after it started up (worked with Marc Roberts). 20 years was a good stint, good times. Now living overseas in the Middle East as the COO of an IT company. Anyhow, good to be here, it will be fun looking thru the different boards/threads!
