At a rough guess I would say about 28. There were 13 aircraft converted to the ag role.

Mike Feeney did not fly daks topdressing. Forgot about Mike Judd and Tiri Manahi. Add Dick Brooks (American) Murray Eastman (Australian Gerry Oman That makes 30.

I was on a Falcon's Roost to Gisborne (unsure of the aircraft or the year but it was about November) and was able to score a ride in an AgDak with Bruce Thompson. A 40 minute sortie to the back of beyond. The 2nd best flight I have ever had..
I remember that Christmas Santa brought me a copy of John King's VINTAGE AEROPLANES IN NEW ZEALAND and there was the famous pic taken from the flight deck of the Dak in a hard bank -the pic entitled "Mind the coffee Bruce"
I showed it to my wife and she just shook her head and walked away.............. ;D

Just been through the entire forum on Ag Daks. From my memory just a few obsevations. On Page 1 entry by furyfb11, AZL at Palmerston North with flaps down. That was probably the time when I was loading for Gerry Kluck at Ardmore when an actuating rod for the flaps broke. Went To Palmerston for repairs. Page 4. kiwibeavers. AOI at Ardmore in 1967. More probably in 1969 at the time Don Thorp was being checked out. The VW parked by the shed would have been George Wilsons, the driver who took over from me. AZA at Rotorua looks more like Whangarei. Page 10. Posted by myself. Forgot about operating out of Whitianga. Someone asked about how far the daks operated from an airfield. At Ardmore the longest flight was to Gt Barrier which took an hour per trip. Gt Mercury Island was 55 minutes, Coromandel Peninsula varied from 45 to 55 minutes depending on location. Waiheke was between 20 and 25 minutes. On Tuesday I was able to have a look at AZL in the paint shop at Hamilton. It is looking really good. I hope to post some photos I have from yeas back when I learn how to post them.

Another reason i know this book is when I got to the Dove/Devon chapter I found a photo of myself unplugging a battery cart from the Air Force Museum's Devon! (Best side: back to camera! If I recall I had also run the Avenger and there was an ex RNZAF Avenger pilot there who unfortunately was too frail to get up to the cockpit. Those are great photos Starr!
