Cpl (RTD) Brian Paul Richard BEM M84996 ACH Base Printer RNZAF Wigram RNZAF 15 Jun 71 - 14 Jun 91 and Civilian 11 Aug 91 - 22 Nov 01, passed away peacefully after long a illness on 14 Jan 18 in Bristol UK. From Colin Hanson’s By Such Deeds – Honours and awards in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, 1923 – 1999 : RICHARD, Corporal Brian Paul, BEM. M84996; Born Epsom, Surrey, England, 22 Nov 1941; British Army/TF (Sapper, Royal Engineers) 24 Mar 1964 to 1 Nov 1966, 24001871; RNZAF 15 Jun 1971 to 14 Jun 1991; Senior Librarian. Chief of Air Staff Commendation (1980): [Abbreviated] For outstanding zeal and devotion to duty. Citation British Empire Medal (QB1987): Having previously served an apprenticeship as a printer in the United Kingdom, Corporal Richard enlisted in the RNZAF on 15 June 1971. His particular talents were soon utilised at RNZAF Wigram, where the demand for the creation and reproduction of training material vastly exceeded the then current production abilities of this Base. When Corporal Richard first arrived at Wigram he was faced with antiquated equipment wholly inadequate for the required task. He immediately set about developing a plan for the enhancement of the existing reprographic facilities. His plan included the identification of suitable replacement items together with well researched proposals encompassing all the factors involved with the procurement and introduction of such equipment. Because there was no precedent within the Ministry of Defence for setting up sophisticated printing services, initial progress was slow, but by perseverance Corporal Richard achieved his aim of realising a reprographic facility at Wigram without peer in any defence establishment. This he did while maintaining the best possible service throughout with the original equipment. Corporal Richard has now served continuously at Wigram for over 15 years in the same appointment. Throughout this time his enthusiasm for, and total dedication to his task, have not wavered. He has recognised the critical importance of his work to the training needs of the Service, but has never sought, nor expected, recognition or advancement. It is by his personal skill and determination that there now exists a reprographic facility in the Wigram training environment of an efficacy unparalleled in the RNZAF. Errol

I remember Brian from my second tour of Wigram in the mid 1970's . always very helpful and often willing to "bend the rules" to get jobs done in time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Peter was a Cub/Pawnee pilot with Aerial Farming and probably morphed into the James clan?

Peter was with Aircraft Services when James took over that Company, not Aerial Farming.
