Such a shame to see that Trevor has passed away. He had a magnificent innings though, 105 years. He was a wonderful man, very sharp and very funny. I suspect he might have been the last living member of No. 4 Servicing Unit that worked on Warhawks and Corsairs at Torokina.

Finally the new page that the NZ Herald set up for obits has a Keyword section now, making it easier to find things. It's nowhere near as good as their old search engine though. Here is one that seems to have been missed.

I see it mentioned that Trevor Page was into electroplating. Presumably he was Page Plating in Napier, and although I can't see it in the articles on the Internet I connect them with aircraft in years gone by, maybe the Chrislea Ace ASI? And an Apache?

Yes, he owned four different aircraft over the years, including the Chrislea which is now at Ashburton Aviation Museum. Trevor worked on aircraft during WWII but he decided to learn to fly aged 50. He did so till he was 90, at which time he decided to stop - not because he felt too old to fly, but because he had trouble getting in and out of the aircraft and he decided it was not fair that he had to keep asking one of the airport firemen to help him. Some time before that he crashed one of his other aircraft, after he'd just purchased it.

Oh and yes, he had the electroplating company, but he closed it when he turned 99 because the Chinese were undercutting him too much so he decided it was time to retire.
