NZ413719; Born Woodville, 28 Nov 1916; RNZAF 6 Jul 1941 to 26 May 1945; Navigator. Citation Distinguished Flying Cross (11 Oct 1943): [158 Sqn RAF (Halifax)] This officer’s operational career has been distinguished throughout by his technical skill as a navigator, infectious enthusiasm for operational flying and determination to guide his aircraft accurately to the target and back. He has participated in sorties against many of the most heavily defended targets in enemy territory. Fg Off Whitelaw flew at least 26 sorties with 158 Sqn, then instructed on 20 OTU RAF (Wellington).
