Citation King’s Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air (KB1946): Not available. Citation Air Force Cross (KB1948): Not available. Flt Lt Heath served with the following RNZAF units - Christchurch TAF Sqn and NZ GR Sqn in NZ; then from late 1941 with 4, 5, 3, 2, 1 and 9 Sqns in the S & SWPAs, before joining 40 and 41 Sqns, completing 286 sorties and, by 1947, over 3,000 hours as a WOAG. Flew one tour on Vincents and Hudsons with 4, 5 and 3 Sqns and two on Venturas with 9 Sqn. BURRELL, John Gilbert Service W688226 Radio Fitter RNZAF 13 Jan 1951 to 24 Feb 1975 aged 81 on November 17, 2013, at Palm Grove in his 82nd year, with his devoted wife of 60 years, Joyce, at his side. Loved father and father-in-law of Stephen and Leslie, Gail and Murray Dunlop, Peter and Florence, David, Gavin and Soffie, and Trevor, and loved grandfather and great-grandfather of their children. I just had this message from Jack Hamley:
"For your info. John Burrell was based at Ohakea for a lot of his service. He original trade was Communications Fitter ( AIR ), as was mine. When the rank of Flt/Sgt was reached, the trade was changed to Radio Fitter. Much later the trade of AVIONICS was born.
John was my boss when I was posted to Ohakea in 1960 and I worked with him until he retired.
He went to England as part of the Canberra training team and he taught me all the aircraft radio systems and the theory and operation of the black boxes which we repaired at Ohakea.
He was a cheerful and sociable person and liked his golf."

Sad to see Ernie Stillwell has passed away. I talked with him by phone a few years back and went to visit him personally last year. A very nice man. He was crew in the famous Ventura NZ4516 "Patua Te Ra" with Eric 'Spic' Spicer as captain.

FORMAN, Thomas Lindsay (Tom). 4212832 WWII RNZAF Flight Officer Peacefully on 1 December 2013, aged 92 years. Much loved husband of Margaret for 68 years. Adored father and father in law of Marilyn and James, Lindsay and Brenda. Grandad to Alexandra and Oliver. A service for Tom will be held at The All Souls Chapel, Purewa, 100 St Johns Road, Meadowbank on Wednesday 4 December at 1pm.

SCOTT, Alan RNZAF 4211672, veteran of Bomber Command 75 Squadron, passed away peacefully on 1 December 2013 after a short illness at Middlemore Hospital in his 90th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Doreen, loved Dad of Linda and Susan, loved father-in-law of Ross and Michael, awesome Granddad of Frances and Nick, Alaina and James, Christopher, Sarah and Cameron, and Great Granddad (Gaga) of Benjamin. Forever Missed. A service to celebrate Alan's life will be held at All Souls Chapel of Purewa Crematorium, St Johns Road, Meadowbank on Thursday 5th December at 2.30pm to be followed by interment at Purewa Cemetery.
