Chris "Corny" Cornelissen?? Wow. So young, too. Hung out with him a bit at Woody. I recall one or two trips to Nelson from with him, in his V6 Cortina. Mad as a cut chook on occasion, but in an endearing way!

SQN LDR (RTD) Terence Charles (Terry) MATTHEWS 82005 RNZAF. On 9th Feb 2015 (SUDDENLY) in his 69th year. Dearly loved husband, father, grandad and brother of Clare, Jacquie, Simon, Christine, Sean, Aaron, Marion, Jacob, Dylan, Phillip and John. It is with regret that we advise the sudden death yesterday of Mr Terry MATTHEWS at his home in Waipu. At the time of his death, Terry was employed on the civilian staff as the RNZAF Base Auckland Maintenance Wing Executive Officer, a position he held since 22 Nov 11. Previously Terry served in the RNZAF as an Engineering Officer from 09 Jan 62 to 04 Oct 93, rising to the rank of SQNLDR. Terry was previously employed as a civilian employee from 11 Sep 97 to 30 Jul 99 and as a contractor between 12 Sep 99 to 07 Nov 03.

Terry was in A Flight of BES 19 in 1962 (as was I). At that time his service number was 80813, so I don't know how that became changed

Thats right OJ I think that most of 19 BES numbers were 80xxx but later on there was a letter added to the front, some calculation with your birth date I think. Mine was T80632. Sailor Sid

Terry was originally an Instrument Fitter, completing his trade training in Australia, if memory serves. He had a blood change from the rank of Sgt.

Yes Les, Terry was Instruments and selected to become part of the RAAF Air Apprentice scheme and trained at Wagga Wagga for about 4 years then came to Ohakea in 1967. I went to his funeral on Monday. There were two others from 1962 there; Ian Young and Joe Gordon both of whom I had not seen in person since the 1960's.
