I don't think there ever has been a Warrant Officer Class I or Class II in the RNZAF has there? It's the Army who has the two-tier rank for Warrant Officers.

Two recent deaths : Anthony (Tony) Edward West, passed away in Wellington on the 7th of August, 2015, aged 87 years. I believe Tony West had been a Wing Commander in the RNZAF. Ronald McNally Blackstock passed away in Oamaru on the 12th of August, 2015, aged 90 years. Former Warrant Officer 1st Class, 437141, RAAF. A pilot for three years, including 16 months in the UK.

I am fairly sure that Tony West joined from the RAF and was Flight Commander at GSTS (Recruit Training School) in the late 1960's early 1970's before taking over from Paul Brodie as OC GSTS.

Peter Layne tells me - "After his WW2 service Captain Jack Curtiss joined NAC and was one of the three captains to deliver the first F27 Friendship, ZK-BXA, to New Zealand and was also on the crew of its first scheduled service in December 1960."
