WOOD, Bruce Allan (Allan) Group Captain RNZAF (Retired). AFC, NZ432264 and L70184. Allan passed away at Sunset Lodge Resthome and Hospital, Blockhouse Bay, aged 91 years. Beloved partner and companion of Olga. Father and Father in law of Greg and Victoria, Elisabeth and George. Loving friend of Christopher, Glenn and the late Perry. Grandfather of Michael and wife Jill, Kate and husband Luke; Dan and Jack. Proud Great Grandfather of Ryan, Sebastian, Matthew Scarlett and Natalie. Forever in our hearts. Grateful thanks to Dr. Gary MacLachlan and the staff at Sunset Lodge for the care given to Allan. A celebration of Allan's life will be held in the Main Chapel of the Morrison Funeral Home, 220 Universal Drive, Henderson on Thursday 1 October 2015 at 12:30 pm. I was saddened to here about Allans passing on Monday. He is my wifes Great Uncle and I had met him on several occasions. He was always jovial and had many a story to tell about his Air Force days. From memory he just missed going to war, serving as an instructor instead and then flew Corsairs and Mustangs post WWII. He later became CO 40 Sqn and captained the first C130 from the States, as well as made the first C130 landing at Antartica. Despite being part of the RNZAFs history and having some very funny stories to tell, none of us could convince him to write a book. Unfortunately his health declined in recent years. 91 is not a bad innings. RIP Great Uncle Allan.

I see on a Wanganui website today the death notice of who I'm sure is Sam Anderson, brother of Charlie and fellow helicopter pilot.
Someone may be able to confirm.
