I have just heard this morning that well known homebuilder Robbie Gentry (of Tauranga) passed away this morning. Robbie was one of the founding members of AACA / SAA and built by most peoples reckoning 9 Aircraft!. He always found he had a bit of wood left over after each project, so started another one to use it up. He then needed to buy more wood, so had some left over at the end - and so on!

From our New Zealand Bomber Command Association Facebook page: Sad news. Our good friend Harry Widdup passed away this morning. Harry was a flight engineer on No. 100 Squadron RAF Lancasters. He was awarded the DFM on 27 April 1944 for helping to save the aircraft and crew after they were hit by flak over Fredrichhafen. An event he recorded for us just two weeks ago. Harry was one of the founders of the NZBCA and always enjoyed the company of his old mates. His enthusiasm and laughter will be really missed. Pictured with the Chief Of Air Force in August this year. Godspeed Harry

Noted. He must have lived a long life, as he was married with a family when I first met him in 1964. Derek did a an excellent job for many years with AHSNZ, but completely dropped off the scene after he resigned as editor.
