The Baron will be there, along with his argumentative mates.. No flying, no camera, - just chilling.. Hmmm, perhaps just a little wheeling and dealing. Looking out for ya Baz... Sorry I'm not there Kevin! But my brother Ken is (Obiwan27). I'm pottering around on the Auster and Saturday see's the Auster population in the hangar increase to two when Anthony's T7 fuselage arrives back from JEM aviation. Pizza beer and wine to celebrate this small step in her return to the air! Have fun!

Footage on TV3 was far superior than TV1 in my opinion. Some great air to air footage I agree. It does pay to get in early at WoW.Traffic issues are not usually an issue at WoW . Sorted! background photo to the announcer on TV1 was the Polikarpovs from the show's heyday. No one tell TV1 that those aircraft disppeared years ago?

Yep, a bit dry and dusty, but a very chilled-out and enjoyable Friday at Wanaka yesterday. No huge queues for anything, but still seemed to be a reasonable crowd. What a delight to have my first Easter since 1996 with no official commitments. Just paid my money and enjoyed!!!! Not even bothering me that there's no "star turn' from overseas this year. (aside from the Texan of course). Just enjoying it for what it is. The Avenger alone just utterly delights me. And I've only seen it parked so far ! Bring on today. Weather looks fab again.

[And that shocking American comentator who dronned on when the T-6C Texan was displayed at Ohakea appears thankfully to be absent. Bugger.....he was there spouting the same dumb script today. I guess that means we've got to put up with him again tomorrow!

I saw a snippet on TV, not sure which news, but it said that the airshow was at Otago Airport. Has Luggate changed its name?

The third to last in that series is a real stunner, Brendon showed me a few more, jaw dropping over that back drop. Three from yesterday.

I love the shot of the Checkers and the Spit!! Wow!
What is that in the foreground on the third shot? A Bell X-1 replica? And a rocket? And is that two P-51D's and a Spitfire in the shot? It looks really dramatic.

Isn't that the V1 replica/ Looks like they might have tried to copy the V2 that Omaka did but just a bit smaller. ;D Yes Dave it is a great action shot!

IS THAT IT!? Two full days gone already and we have 3 pics? Where are all the shots from the gracious and empathetic forumites who consider the NEEDS of those who can't be there? At Omaka we had pages of shots beginning Thursday evening posted for the unfortunates to see... gimme gimme I need, I need... (said with some feeling but also tongue in cheek, and with freeness of speech I might add :-) )

...although I hastily add that Brendon's pics are a huge consolation! ;-) Cheers Brendon and Dave

Maybe it's the photo angle but that doesn't look like a V-1 to me, the span of both the wings and tailplane look too wide for the body. But as I say, perhaps it's the angle?

Cant really tell from the angle / smoke if theres a pulse jet engine on top , but Id guess V1 . It didn't sound like a pulse jet when it took off, those things need airflow through them to operate.

The third picture seems to show a V1 in my opinion but further back seems to be a Leaning Tower of Pisa of sorts :-) !

I would hazard a guess that it was the V-1 replica that first appeared some years ago. Quite rudimentary but great set dressing!
The photo of the Checkers with AL is great, so wonderful to see the RNZAF working with Brendon and co. And Brendon's own shots of the flight south are just superb.
