... having said that I would like to see the VC10. They also have voyager A330 but I don't think it is in service yet? There isn't a webpage for the A330 on the RAF site.

Why stop at bringing boring old transports and tankers? The RAF should bring its Lancaster! ;D it could do a bit of film work while it's here.

I meant in the bit where the in-service aircraft are profiled, I was checking to see if the VC-10 was still around :-)

Why not the whole of the BBMF flight!

The RAF won't bring their Red Arrows here (even when they have visited Australia) because they don't trust crossing the Tasman in single enguned jets.
I guess the same will apply to their Spitifres and Hurricanes, not to mention the range. But a Lancaster has four engines and long range and they've visited here before.
In reality the RAF will likely send a VIP-type transport so some of the high ranked staff can come for sticky buns. I hope they give the option of bringing home some ex-RNZAF but currently serving kiwis in the RAF and also some UK-based veterans to the show onboard as well.

Errol failed to point out my other suggestion, after the Reds: a Typhoon.
I agree with Dave...transports and tankers?! I'm all for seeing new, foreign aircraft but heavies on static display are hardly big drawcards for me. Luckily there are older, more interesting aircraft on the list...such as next week's Avenger!

The A330s is not in service yet - first one in and out of Brize Norton undergoing testing. I also doubt that VC-10s (or Tristars) will arrive they are really on their last legs and very busy between Brize and Bastion.
The obvious machine to send would have been a Nimrod but sadly no more.
I think the Last RAF machine downunder (to Avalon) was an E-3. It is the only aircraft with the legs to get here without too much drama and no current tasking so can be spared.
Certainly will be interesting to see what the RAF send

What was the last RAF aeroplane to attend a New Zealand aishow? Was it the Harrier in 1992?
Do they ahve any Lear jet type VIP transports?

Sentinel would be another possible that has the range and no current tasking. I think the Tornado boys would love to come over and do some low fly in the alps but the chances are 0

Man I'd love to see a Tornado in action. Those ones in the Gulf War were great, I loved Snoopy's Airways especially.

Problem with a lot of overseas air forces - no money in the budget to send folks on a trip over here.

Can you imagine the awesomeness that will be if the RAF bring over s Typhoon or two for an air demo?

It looks likely to be an E-3 at the moment...
