I notice all the Kiwis supporting Ireland as I believe that you all know the Wallabies will be a huge threat here for the cup (just saying) ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) As a New Zealander of part Irish descent, I'm always going to support them unless they are playing us. Doesn't matter who the opposition is otherwise ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I think you'd have trouble finding a NZer that didn't have any Irish ancestors. I certainly did, its were I get my stubborn streak for sure. Was nice to see them out play the Aussies tho. Been very quiet at work this week.

Well done to all teams this weekend the AB's looked polished and South Africa dangerous.Australia well the wheels fell off and they have made it very hard for themselfs because if Ireland beat Italy then the Aussies come second in their pool and provided South Africa come first in their pool then the Aussies will meet South Africa in the quarter final do or die. As for England they are crap and really not worthy of time on telly. But like the last world cup they step up in the big games and just may surprise a few. Samoa well they played their hearts out and the fan base is amazing! Go the AB's this Saturday swallow those frogs whole!

PARTY POOPERS #1
From the Herald: A Rugby fan was at the Ireland v Australia game and witnessed what he thought was unnecessary heavy-handedness by security at Eden Park. "Three young Wallaby fans stripped down to Speedos and surf-lifesaving helmets early into the game. Good on them; given the temperature, they were much braver than me. The crowd got into it; plenty of Irish fans had their photos taken with the intrepid trio, all good banter. Just before halftime, security and police arrived and simply hooked them. No 'Put your shirts on, lads', no 'Can you stop having so much fun with the other fans', no 'See how NZ can put on a good-natured RWC'. Just gone. Evicted. Despite the pleas of the Irish and Wallaby fans around them.
I was astonished." (Source: Russell Brown's Hard News)

PARTY POOPERS #2My wife was advised not to wear her All Blacks Steinlager Celebration top to a game - she would have to either remove it or turn it inside out - just in case the TV focuses on her Canterbury (and not Addidas) top. ![](http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rY4FS4-7Tpw/SsmJohd6NjI/AAAAAAAAAn0/eVVs9tc-Z0c/s320/AB+front.JPG)

Pencil dicks aside - Ireland 15 Australia 6That was THE BEST fowards game I seen in many a long year..... ![](http://flagspot.net/images/i/ie@irfu.gif) When asked did he learn anyting about Australia, from the Ireland Australia game, the NZ assistant coach said, "no, but we certainly learnt plenty about Ireland". He conceded that there may have been no team that could stop Ireland, on the day they play like that.

The downside to the Aussie loss is that they are now on our side of the draw past the quarterfinals. If things go to seeding we will play the winner of the SA vs Aus match in the semi (providing we can take care of Scotland or Argentina), whereas the other semi will most likely be England vs France. If NZ was to lose vs France on Saturday we would be in a quarterfinal against England and if we won that, a semi vs the winner of Ireland vs either Fiji, Samoa or Wales. Its not going to be plain sailing at the business end of the tournament thats for sure.

I think the whole hoo-ha about Mike Tindall in the bar is a nonsense. Whatever he does in his time off while meeting people is no-ones' business but his own. And whatever happened to "What goes on tour, stays on tour"?
He was merely drinking with her, she kissed him once by the look of it, and they left the place. So friggin what. It wasn't like he raped her, or there was violence or anything of that nature. For all the media and that muppet bouncer knew she may have been an old friend who was simply catching up with him. He has been to NZ many times and will have friends in this country. I think the media have embarrassed themselves by trying to embarrass Tindall.
And the fact that one of the consultant experts that the media got onboard to talk about it was the editor of the New Idea magazine (No Idea) just tells me what gutter trash this story is, New Idea is worse than News of the World was.
Something else that bugs me about the World Cup. The games have been brilliant and all, but the TV coverage for 50% of the nation who do not have Sky has been dismal. I was under the misguided impression when they announced the free-to-air package and stated three channels will be broadcasting the games that it meant when two games were playing at the same time, one channel covers one live, and another covers the other live. No. We're getting live games only on Maori Television in the main with a very sporadic sprinkling of live games on TV One or TV3.
Maori Television plays one game live and the other game played at the same time afterwards as delayed coverage. Then One and/or TV3 plays the same bloody games all over again even more delayed. What a bloody shambles.
Two of the games played on Saturday didn't even play on any free-to-air network till Sunday. And the commentary team on Maori Television is simply appaulling. they are a bunch of ex-players who spend most of the game crapping on about their own careers and ignoring the action on the field. The IRB had apparently decreed that commentaters were supposed to refer to each other by their real names but Oz and Buck on Maori TV are ignoring this, as are others. Those who are not ex-players seem to drift willy-nilly backwards and forwards from English into Te Reo. We were again assured the comentary would be in English. I don't mind that so much as most of what they're saying is irrellavent. The best member of the Maori commentary team I have seen so far is Rawiri Paratene, who's an ex-Play School presenter. that just shows the calibre I guess. I wish they had never Brought Back Buck.
In the past we have had all the games on TV One, which has a wider national coverage than any other network. We have had top grade commentary. And we have seen more games live than we seem to be getting now despite the time difference. Now when it's right here at hoke and theoretically so much easier to do, it's a balls up as far as I am concerned. It Trevor Mallard and Phil Goof had sorted the rights properly from the beginning instead of pandering, this would never have happened.

That really sucks the big one. I agree about Ireland tho, fantastic game and you couldn't help getting behind them.

Jeez Dave, what did you have for lunch ? ... Did someone slip a grumpy pill into it ? I have to agree though, - I have given up on some of the games on Maori TV..... the commentary had given me the heebies.
I watched the same game later on TV3 I think it was, so much easier and more pleasant.
The bouncer is a tool. Not a good look for NZ. The Pom media will dig the dirt on their teams regardless.

You should see the coverage in Victoria, talk about sporadic. Internet streaming is the answer.

I agree Darren, the spirit of the Cup and of the games is great. It's wonderful to see kiwis getting really behind all the different matches and teams. And it's not just tourists and immigrants supporting the foreign teams either. Considering a few weeks ago a poll found only 1/3rd of kiwis were into the Cup, I think that has more than doubled now as everyone is talking about it.

TV1 and TV3 wouldn't pay, so they don't get coverage rights. All bow to the mighty dollar.

I just read there was a fire at the stadium in the Japan vs Tonga game. Was it serious? Nope , scrub fire in an adjoining rugby club grounds . Could have been a bit alarming for those there , but little risk , or harm done .
