What better theme 'tune' than Wrights or Merlins at 'full song', Dave?

I was thinking of recording a theme tune based on the Wombles classic, "Remember You're A WONZA" ;D

What better theme 'tune' than Wrights or Merlins at 'full song', Dave? A certain big Bristol!

A great start... when you were requesting feedback I was about to say something about the background noise, only to have it explained as fireworks... on that night I was working a nightshift in AA Twr with probably the best view of fireworks in the country!! One bit of constructive criticism though... with phone interviews you might want to get the levels a little more even if possible?? Dave - quieter, Craig - louder.
But it did introduce me to a couple of fanastic threads that I hadn't seen before... the Reid and Shorty photo collections... I've skimmed both but will need to go back and read each of them. I even contacted the family regarding getting a copy of the DVD but unfortunately they are no longer producing them as "demand tapered off a year or two back" - GUTTED!

Hi Mike, yes the levels issue was a pain, the equipment is new to me and I didn't realise it would be that bad. On the second interview I did, with Don, also by phone as my planned trip to visit him got cancelled, I tried to keep myself as far as possible from the microphone as possible while hoping Don could still hear me. I think the differential is better in that one, but there's still a bit of problem as it was a quiet line anyway.
However there's a piece of kit that I hope to get which allows the recording device to be plugged directly into the phone jack, which apparently stops this hassle. I hope to get this soon and that might solve that issue.
There were impromtu cameos in both Don's and Craig's interviews where one of our cats decided they'd make an entrance and bang around and be right little gits. Still, even the professionals at Warbird Radio often have the odd dog barking in the background. ;D
Another thing I found when I did Don's, for the first half hour you can hear the birds outside singing their evensong as they went to bed. The microphone is pretty powerful as I had all the windows shut. I think I will never get rid of all the outside influences as it is not being recorded in a sound studio.

Fabulous start Dave and Craig. I've finally had time to sit and listen to the whole episode tonight. The audio "worm" looks like a Christchurch seismograph printout!

Well done guys, I'm halfway through the first podcast and enjoying it. Looking forward to more in the pipeline as I believe that it has huge potential.

I appreciate the feedback guys, it's good to know it is all worth it.
ErrolC suggested to me that I should create a new board on the forum, and each new episode has a new thread for feedback, criticism, follow up questions and answers, etc. I think it might be a good idea, what do you guys and girls reckon?

Hi Dave, a new board for the Podcasts sounds like a great idea. Finished listening today. Good to get the first one under your belt and you can only learn from that and fine tune things as you go.

What better theme 'tune' than Wrights or Merlins at 'full song', Dave? I appreciate the sentiment but no one wants to hear me or my wife sing. ;D

Hi everyone, I have uploaded a couple more episodes. Now available are two recordings from the 2011 Forum Meet and veterans Day. They are FAA pilot Bob Glading, and forum member Larry Hill. The recordings are not perfect as it was a fairly noisy venue, and they were recorded with my camera when it was having issues (now thankfully solved). However they are a record of the different talks given on the day and more of these guest speakers will be added soon. Also I have added Episode 2, the interview with Don Simms. Due to its huge length, around two hours, I have cut it into four parts. Basicly nothing is cut out of it, it's as is, just chopped into four. It is a very fascinating interview in my opinion. However I am slightly worried about the format - as I went with Soundcloud first and have used up almost all the (tiny amount of) free spoace they give you to upload to, I decided to give Podomatic a try. So these four parts are uploaded with Podomatic, but as far as I can see from the embedded version i have loaded up, it doesn't look as if you can download the recording to put onto an iPod. You should be able to but I cannot work out how just yet. But you should still be able to listen at this stage, hopefully. www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/WONZ_Show.html#Ep2

Hi Dave, I am having no joy in getting the Podomatic recordings for Don's interview to work at this stage. Any special tips or tricks needed?
In the meantime I am listening to Bob Glading and loving his "16 tips..." :-)

Is Podomatic not even playing? Damn. back to the drawing board there then. Sorry. I cannot even check it on my PC as it's so useless the connection and memory won't allow it.

In the meantime I am listening to Bob Glading and loving his "16 tips..." :-) It is using an embedded Adobe Flash player to play it. What can you see under 'Part One' of Don's episode? Is there a podomatic player displaying of the same general type as the Soundcloud one in Craig's episode? Are you using a fairly up-to-date version of your internet browser? If it is nagging you to update, now would be a good time.

So, is it working for you then Errol? Yes, both part one (that I listened to earlier today, so might still be in cache), and part two, which started playing after the expected few seconds wait (so it can build up a small buffer).
