By the way, I don't know if I will bother to continue to add an individual thread and poll for each episode, so few people bothered to use them I'll just add updates here I think.

Just been listening to Anthony Galbraith's interview Dave, he is the ultimate aircraft enthusiast! From modelling to helping restore aircraft to doing his own one. He's crafty, I didn't know he used to have a Tiger Moth project. (Probably just as well he sold it, he would forever be at the hairdresser getting rid of helmet hair! ;D) I'm off to listen to Shorty next! Keep 'em coming!

Thanks Baz. I have been thinking, maybe I should continue with the individual threads as this one has generated just one response for three new shows. So I'll add them up and you can rate the show. By the way there's a new show added today, Episode 22 - which is a June 2012 ZK-AZL Update and a tour of Aviation Painting Services at Hamilton. www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/WONZ_Show.html#Ep22

Can someone please tell me what the procedure is to get these shows put through the iTunes system? They are now all going up on he one permanent hst server, it would be good to sheare them a little more widely. Disappointingly some of the episodes which have taken a while to set up, record, edit and post are not even making it into double figures of people listening, makes me wonder if it's all worthwhile. A few have been popular, but you know what I mean.

First thing that you need is an RSS feed for the shows. This is basically a file in a fixed location which people can look at to see what files are available. iTunes (as well as software like the podcast manager on my Android smartphone) then looks at that file to see what to download.
Hopefully the people hosting the files can provide the RSS feed - ask them first. Check with the Plane Crazy Down Under guys (see ausflier's (Steve's) post at the start of the thread, I think Grant has a login here too Falcon124 maybe?) for further help.

Hi Errol, This page here from the host, Podomatic, has a button on it saying Subscribe With iTunes. wingsovernewzealand94621.podomatic.com/Is that what is needed? I cannot see anything on the site specifically marked as RSS.

The Podomatic setup has included nice friendly buttons for iTunes, Google, and Yahoo that in turn point to the RSS feed that has already been done for you. You can see the filename in the links behind those buttons (it's wingsovernewzealand94621.podOmatic.com/rss2.xml). So that RSS feed includes pointers to episodes 17, 18, 20-24. I click on the iTunes button, and the most recent episode (24) has started downloading. I can see the others listed above in iTunes as being available for download. Yay! Also works on my phone app when I point it at the rss file. If you can get the other episodes into that Podomatic account, you should be set.

Oh, I see, I mislabelled No. 19 as 18, and the original 18 (Brendon Deere's Hangar Forum Meet) is hosted on the other Podomatic account. Doh. Do you think it is necessary to transfer all thje older shows over to the new Podomatic account server? Or should I just forget them and move on? People can still get them on my show page at www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/WONZ_Show.html

At a minimum you should update the Show Description to point to the web page with all the shows listed. This is the bit that currently says 'Give it a listen!, you should probably expand this further to give an overall description of the show as well. Looking how other bits of info appear in iTunes, it seems ok, except that 'Genre' is 'Podcast', rather than 'Aviation Podcast'. I assume iTunes uses this to guide people's search results, so see if you can change it. Looking at the Podomatic page, it has 'Category:General' this may be the spot to change it? Also put 'New Zealand' in 'Location'.
I think moving the older ones over at some point will be useful, as if people are used to listening to podcasts via the iTunes podcast section (or other podcast manager) then getting a older episode or two is a simple click or two, then it is organised in the same way as everything else they listen to.
Feel free to call by next time you are in Auckland at a suitable time.

Thanks Errol. At a minimum you should update the Show Description to point to the web page with all the shows listed. This is the bit that currently says 'Give it a listen! Changed that now. Good idea, done now, it appears on the right side. Unfortunately in setting up the category there is no option about aviation, so in the end I chose Technology as it was the closest. Most of the options seem to be about music and politics! I have added the word aviation as a tag though, and several others. Done now. Yeah I might have to do that. Doh! What a pain though. I'm in Auckland now, for a few more days. Send me a text tomorrow if you're around Errol.

Just finished listening to Paul McSweeny's interview (and I'd listened to Warren's a few weeks back) and found myself disappointed...........that it had finished! Really hope you get to do another one with Paul (and Warren). I was chuckling away listening to Paul and was really fascinated with his description of RNZAF life and the end of his career. I hope to get the chance to talk to him one day, I think he'd be quite an inspirational employer!

I was waiting for a thread for that show, as it should attract lots of interest?
