The two Spitfires looked great together, great shots and good to catch up. Transmission shortly before this was taken. "Hunter 17 you have clearance to 9500 ft" followed by "Can I request 15000ft following my last pass" Three more:

Great pics indeed Gavin, but what the hell were you doing awake at 0430 after a day like yesterday? ;D

I know I can be a bit slow sometimes but it took me a minute to realsie that Mustang 15 is flying again after having the Merlin removed for overhaul. The new paint scheme and improved markings look great. I was looking at Slackie's photos on his online album and noticed there was a mismatch where the anti glare paint meets the cockpit (looking on the left side). I'm not criticizing just curious as to whether it was done because the real NZ2415 was like that? Or were the engine cowlings painted off the aircraft?

With the engine change and all, it was a close run thing for an appearance at Tauranga. May be it was a choice between finishing the paint job or the Tauranga Airshow Guess the airshow won.

Not just the nose......................some sponsorship from V (the energy drink). Hope its just for the Air Show! Ah I see joesmith yes I'd take the airshow appearance over painting any day. ;D

Gavin, those two first Hunter shots are out of this world. Thanks to you and to slackie and stereoimage for going to the effort of getting these up so quickly ... some beautiful shots ... hopefully more on the way from today! Thanks again.

Not from me... working today... but I can tell you that the Hunter had a ground speed of 475kts on his last pass and showed an altitude of 0ft! I proved that you can still watch the show even when you're not there!

Awesome show, great calue for money! We're all sunburnt, frazzled and full of junk food. The warbirds were superb, it was great to see them in action all at once. Shame about the pitiful RNZAF display-thought they couldve put the Herc in the air! Speaking of which, I have seen the future of single seat air combat aircraft today, and it is ......the CRICKET!! Brilliantly simple and must have a very low radar signature. Not just that, but you only need a couple of Skyline garages to house them in. They'd easily fall within budget... ;D

Looks like a fantastic show ! I'm curious re the crowd numbers. Was it well supported? This show is certainly one of the premier aviation events in this country. I greatly admire the level of professionalism Andrew has stamped on the heritage aviation scene in Tauranga.

Flew up and back just for today's show.
Shame about the weather - gusty and overcast most of the day, still managed to get sunburnt, however.
The show on the whole was pretty good. There weren't huge gaps between displays, and the show kept pretty well to time, which is a nice change from some of the shows I've seen in the last few years. It also had a nice mix-up, different aircraft one after the other, not similar types all bunched up. The flying was (with one or two glaringly stupid exceptions) pretty cautious, and respectably obeying the height restrictions. Few minor niggles only. The tents on the display line were annoying, and the layout of the whole show was a bit odd.
The Hunter display alone was worth the trip.... and we got TWO! Seeing the Pitts12 fly was nice too - I'd been looking out to see that one.
The Harvard display team... okay, they fly team full lovely aircraft, and need to let the aircraft do the talking. Nobody really cares about what you flying out there, so long as it looks good and sounds good. Some of what they fly right now needs to be cut because it looks bad and detracts from the experience.
The A109 is a sexy wee beasty! Nice if it displayed, but can't have everything!

Dave was the man today, he flew the Tiger Moth in one of the best energy management displays you will ever see, not to mention with great precision and then blasts around at 500 knots in the Hunter............................. Amazing. Last pic from me, I am spent.
