A huge thank you to all for posting these for those of us who could not make it:)
Gavin- superb as always....thanks mate!
JP Schulze- some of your shots are first class! Those ones of the Hornets taking off really give a sense of their speed- fantastic! Have seen the Hornets display at Avalon 05, Whenuapai 09 and Wanaka 10- awesome aircraft! And that one of FLA taking-off, looks like a painting or a screen shot from a flight simulator.
Thanks again everybody for the photos, much appreciated:)
Nick.

I managed to make it early and was camped in a prime spot on the crowd line. Good entertainment watching the light aircraft arrivals with a few go arounds and orbits on finals. Did get a little busy there for a while. Here is a pic of flyernz in the DC3 taking a pic of Mumbles in the queue

I feel sorry for Brendon and his team at Biggin Hill hangar that they did not get to perform at their home base.

It was a great show for me. I enjoyed it immensely. I stayed until as late as I could. Watched the Casa, Hercs and the Orion depart. Was asked to move on as the Air force wanted to close up.

Some pics from Zac and Sam's trip to the NZOH show. I was very pleased to get up close to NZ5772 back on its pole after restoration. First thing we saw as we got closer on foot (having left the car at the north end of Bulls) was the RAAF C-17's vertical and horizontal stabs. Sam was in awe of the size...as was I! I forget where, but I remember seeing pics online of 77Sqn RAAF's specially coloured birthday bird, and I felt very chuffed to see she was the one on static display for people to get up close to. You know, in the last 11 years of going to airshows almost every year, I always thought "hey! this show needs more Star Wars stormtrooper reenactors" ? This was the first thing of the day that confused me and felt truly out of place. We eventually sat halfway between the food stalls and the fence. Everything was REALLY far away, it was like being at an American airshow. I didn't have a decent lens, so this was what most of my display shots looked like: And I had to get a head-on of Vampire 72 on the way out. We caught Brett's T.55 display on the way in, that was sharp and tight. Well done to him! There were four helicopters doing rides throughout the day: a HELiPRO JetRanger and BK-117, a Bell 47 and a short-skidded JetRanger. Turns out it was this: I had seen it on the NZ Civil Aircraft blog and it was so cool to see it in the flesh.

Well as usual the awesome photography of some of our members has given me what Teresa calls "Lens Envy". Shots of mine I thought were pretty good looked pretty rubbish! But I have a few which I think aren't too bad and some show off a few things not seen yet (unless as usual I haven't realised they have been posted already!) However two I know for sure aren't in anyone's camera are the first two. The first one was taken on our wedding day (6th of June 2005) in front of the Air Force Museum's Avenger, as some of you know a special aircraft for me. And we recreated the same photo at the Forum meet using Brendon's Avenger. Of course I forgot which side Teresa was on but you get the idea! The first Hornet display here showing them slow and with everything down. Now I know there's a lot of sky in this shot but this Hornet was moving and man he was frikin' loud!!!! And yes he's a bit small but he's on his way down fast! And I fiddled with my camera's settings and cocked it up big time. I hope to see if I can fix it as its not a bad shot of the Mustang. Close up of the 757 being thrown about a bit. And the Sioux was no slouch either! Now this was brilliant. A batsman on the "deck" bringing in the Avenger. He got waved off though This line up of hovering Iroqouis and a single Kaman(is that spelt right?) was impressive it was like they were welded in the sky. Rappelling demo was great to watch. Couple of shots of two of the Roaring 40's Harvards taking off. And I reckon this "Wedgetail" was a really cool looking Boeing. Might post some more later, hope these are ok and hope no one goes blind!

Did anyone else see the gallons of oil smeared down the side of the Avenger? And I dont mean Normal oil usage..this was major... Talking to Guy Stevenson (Avenger display pilot) emphasised the Wright Cyclone's cavalier attitude to oil reserve preservation. The TBM oil tank is about the same size as a Cessna 172 fuel tank. The stuff down the side was completely expected. They want to fit a scavenge pump to keep the splurging to a reasonable level in future but for the moment it just happens and they wipe it all off ready for the next start. Bonus...I guess the fuselage will never corrode P.S. the air force service name for the NH90 is apparently going to be "Rhino". The original name was supposed to be "Hippo" but they didn't feel it was the right image they were after. Even though Hippos are far more deadly than any Rhinoceros...

Nice 'ecoplasm' on the Hornet's wings in some of those shots, JP! It wasn't just the Hornets holding seances on Saturday . Even the mighty Blunty got some vapour going ;D Still sorting through the take from the weekend, some better images (i.e. ones that aren't massively cropped) to come . Some cool stuff so far, nice work everyone!
