I'd love to oblige Dave, but we're collecting a rental at Auckland Airport off the Wellington flight, and driving directly to Ardmore, so not a lot of opportunity to help.
I picked a guy up in Wellington to take him to the 75th Air Show after a contact on these pages, and haven't seen or heard of him since!

I'd like to help, but can't, as I'm not making any driving commitments that might be cancelled due to jetlag. Is the dinner on the Saturday night?

You sure you didn't leave him at the airshow and he's still trying to thumb a ride home?? Saw an old guy walking south on SH1 just north of Foxton a couple of weeks back!!

I'd be happy to chauffeur an ex-Mossie jockey from Hamilton, just can't stay for the dinner as I'll have my son with me too.

Hi Mike, thanks I'll hold you in reserve but the whole point is about getting them to and from the dinner so we may not call on you. So far I know of just one in Hamilton anyway.

Speaking of walking down SH1 [and slightly off-thread] I once had an elderly WW2 Veteran neighbour name of Harry England, who used to walk everywhere in Lower Hutt and always greeted everyone he met, until his caregiver son decided he needed looking after and placed him in a retirement village in Waikanae. Well, Harry had been a PoW apparently, and on deciding he din't like the Village, upped sticks and took off back to LH. When he was discovered missing, the staff called the police, and they went looking and were driving through OTAKI when they spotted him. The cops confirmed his ID and offered him a ride back, but he was having none of that: "I'm not bloody going back there, and you two can bugger off aswell"."Fair enough" said the cops, "how about we run you home instead? "
What a generation eh!

Back on topic, here is the official press release about the Air Display and the special Honour Dinner on the 29th of September. Note the change in entry price for adults to the air display compared with the original notice circulated, but still damned good value for money. I hope a lot of you can make it to both, a once in a lifetime opportunity really.

Just asked would the wife buy me a ticket to NZ for this for my b'day. As a result of her answer,I'm hoping someone is taking a decent full hd camera.

Would love to attend the dinner but have the wife and kids coming up also to see the event of the century for me Can we pre pay airshow tickets? Has anyone contacted Ivan Warmington? I feel he should be invited to this event. Flying the ultimate machine...and others during WW2. I would personally be happy to cover his dinner costs If others could raise the funds to get him to the show? Thoughts? Cheers Derek

Hi Derek,
Ivan is certainly on the list of veterans who will be invited. That offer is very nice, we'll keep it in mind. (As part of the Mosquito First Flight team, I am the official Mosquito Veteran point of contact for the event and dinner, if you guys didn't already know this).

Awesome news Dave, I'm really looking forwards to being there. Great that veterans like Ivan may get there too, very special indeed, for them & for us!
Many thanks !

If one (say myself, for example) is only going to the airshow, do I have to get my ticket from ticketek, or will there be gate sales?

According to the Press Release halfway up this page (now previous page!) there are gate sales at the same price.
