Mark the weekend of the 29-30 September 2012 on your calendar! Because if you can get to Auckland that weekend you're in for the biggest aviation event of 2012.
Saturday 29th of September 2012
This is the day we have all been waiting for, the one and only planned public display day of Jerry Yagen's magnificent de Havilland DH98 Mosquito Mk 26, following it's long and incredible rebuild to flight by the wonderful team of engineers at Ardmore's Avspecs Ltd.
This public display will take place at Ardmore Aerodrome on Saturday 29th of September (note this is the new date following a change!!), starting at 12.00pm Noon. A four hour display will include the Mosquito, as many de Havilland types as can be gathered, plus the likes of the Spitfire, Mustang, P-40N, Venom, Harvard team, Tiger Moth, ex-military jets and aerobatic planes, etc.
Also in attendance will be collections of classic British cars and military vehicles.
Ticket Price to attend the Ardmore Mosquito display will be $25.00 per adult and $10 per minor under 15 years, or $50 for a family
Sunday 30th of September 2012
We have been invited to host a Forum Meet at Don and Robyn Subritzky's place near Dairy Flat. This is the second Forum Meet to be hosted by them, and we really appreciate the opportunity and the kind invitation to return.
The collection of amazing old aeroplanes that Don and his family have there are well worth seeing, and Don's stories well worth hearing. I will add more about this event soon but just be aware this is the day it's happening. This new date is also confirmed as happening, so we are all set hopefully.
How fantastic is that weekend going to be!!
We are planning the Forum Meet at Don's to co-incide with the Mossie display so people travelling long distances should only need to make one trip to Auckland, not two.
If you can help out the out-of-towners with offering them a bed for the night in a Forum Billet System, and car pooling to the two events, and anything like that, please place your details here.
Let the frenzy begin...
