As in...
ZK-ARB was Ossie James' original Tiger Moth, predating his ownership of ZK-AJO by several months.
The 'Pluto' motif seems to have followed it around for most of its civil life, as I also have a photo of it as a two-holer with a similar motif at Paraparamumu prior to its Ag-Tiger days.

Love the nose art. Any particular reason why it's used?

That is very cool peter. Was it red and silver? Highly likely, but I have yet to see a colour photo of it.

I think it is likely as it seems most of Ossie's aeroplanes in the 1950's wore a corporate scheme of red fuselage and silver wings and tail.

So what was Pluto's eventuality? Are there any remains?

Earler post in this thread.Crashed near Rotorua 1956.I think 1956 was about as late as James operated Tigers so was most likely sold as parts or rebuilt with a different registration.

I haven't heard of "As The Crow Flies" - tell me more. Sure it's not the same Crow? I've got "Flying Low" "As the crow flies" was Charlie Crow. He lived in Hamilton and died about the mid 70's. In later life he invented an outboard motor with no gear box, a horizontal propeller in a vertical inlet curving into a horizontal outlet. Steering was by 360 degree rotation of the motor. Ingenious and practical.

I got to known Charlie Crow very well in the early 70s when he lived in Hamilton. He later moved to Raglan and I last saw him in 1992 prior to my relocating overseas. Among his other inventions was a small portable rotary water pump he designed for use in third-world countries.

Please note I have edited the first post on this thread to give the photo collection it's proper credit. They were all in fact taken by James Aviation employee Andy Higgins.

Is this the same Andy Higgins who was aircraft Production Manager for Air Parts before they merged with AESL to become NZAIL?
