Looking forward to the photos of the show. Not able to attend this time round. Keep an eye out for the "face" painting on ZK-CAG? Some Shark teeth added to the nose area?
Cheers

Will the Mosquito fly if the weather is wet?

Outstanding!
Glad to see the Martin will be there. Even if it doesn't fly I'd like to try it on.

Does anyone know what age you have to be to be considered an adult? I'm 16, so I'm hoping that I may be able to get in with a childs ticket.

According to an RFC casualty card, George Hood was actually flying DH5 (not a DH9) A9462 of 45 Training Squadron when he crashed at Carllton village near Lincoln at 1015 on 26 Oct 1917. He fell in a 'spinning nose dive from 1000 feet' and was 'seriously' injured. He had flown 34 hrs 45 mins on the type, so was not exactly inexperienced, but the DH5 was also an unpopular machine and suffered a good many accidents. The third rather fuzzy photo listed in your post may well be of A9462 upon its arrival back on terra firma following the spin. A lucky escape for Hood, even though at the expensive of a leg. Errol

It's pissing down in Masterton at the moment. Hopefully, the worst of it will pass overnight.
There have been two storms hit the area today....one late afternoon, then the second one which is dumping huge quantities of rain at the moment. I was driving a late-afternoon train to Wellington when I collided head-on with the first storm between Carterton and Featherston. I met up with Dave (our esteemed leader) in Wellington and brought him back to Masterton in the cab of the locomotive on my last train of the day (it was all legal as my boss issued a locomotive cab pass in Dave's name). I then dropped him off at the hostel at St Matthews Collegiate girls boarding school where he is staying over the weekend. Apparently all of the RNZAF personel are also staying there. I'll go and get Dave in the morning and take him out to the Fisher Monoplane monument near Gladstone, then get him to Hood by the time the gates open at midday.
I'm charging all of the camera batteries up at the moment, getting ready for the weekend.

Errol
Yes you are right, a DH5, that's what you get for posting from the other side of the Planet!
I have a copy of that casualty card from the archives at Hendon, as well as copies of his military service records from the National Archives at Kew Gardens, as well as his New Zealand Army records (Wellington Mounted rifles, from memory)
All I need to complete the set is his New Zealand Military flying records, which I believe may be able to sourced from Wigram.

I met up with Dave (our esteemed leader) in Wellington and brought him back to Masterton in the cab of the locomotive on my last train of the day (it was all legal as my boss issued a locomotive cab pass in Dave's name). I've done that! I used to escort a small group of WW2 Veterans on various excursions, including to the RSA at Carterton! Ther were a few former NZ Rail men among them, including one Colin Smith, and I happened to mention that I loved trains! So on the way back from Carterton one day, he knew the driver, so I came as far as Upper Hutt in the cab! You haven't lived until you've travelled at 100MPH on a very straight stretch of track behind The Flying Scotsman!

Returning from a Hamilton airshow in the mid-90s on a steam excursion, we wondered why the train stopped a few times in the middle of nowhere. Then we were invited on to the footplate! Nice!
Have a great weekend at the show everyone!

A reasonably balanced discussion... with a touch of journo childness. Yes - the photographer could have done better but it was all about the machine I guess... Unfortunately a bad firmware update smacked my "good" Droidworx machine 3 days before the interview. I guess the diy attitude came through more though. Pete

The weather forecast was for showers this morning, clearing up by afternoon.
However, the forecasters got it wrong....it has been a beautiful sunny day with the merest gentle breeze since the sun rose this morning.
So far, so good!
