A video of the flight over Wellington from within the P40 Kittyhawk showing the Spitfire and Mosquito as they travelled in convoy is here... www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/8197507/Magical-Merlins-in-a-flying-machine Sorry if this has already been posted - I see it was placed on their news website on the 19th... Saturday. Comments and video from Marty Sharpe whose grandfather flew the Mosquito in WWII.

I'm sure now his flight path will include Rotorua and Ngongataha and over the Mamaku's to Matamata, and this may be an east Coast route that includes Gisborne, Opotiki, Whakatane and then RotoVegas and on. Thanks for the timing - I've been outside in the searing heat in my work blues - too hot! I don't think I will see him here... Lovely photos guys! In the next two years, I am going to have to get a new camera or two... LOL!! This has been the event of the year with so many cameras recording the action - static or flying plus some video footage by HAFU as well to come later. And with the owners and pilots being so friendly and affable and easy to talk with. Including warren Denholm of Avspecs. Amusing note - last night, he was under the bus they came in, removing the spare tyre and then changing a back one so they could get home!! He said it was a lot easier to slide them on the dry grass than wet asphalt! They are lifted back up under the front of the bus by a winch system. And at the end of a stinking hot but very successful day and weekend... poor guy. it did stop at Matamata yesterday seen some pics of it along with the strikemaster on another forum.

it did stop at Matamata yesterday seen some pics of it along with the strikemaster on another forum. Good to hear that the wee whisper I heard at the wind-down "do" at SVAS following the end of the airshow on Sunday was true. It was actually the chap who was refuelling the jets all weekend (I know him through work....he sometimes works for one of the bridge maintenance contractors) who told me that piece of info about the Mosquito calling in at Matamata on the way back to Ardmore so Keith Skilling could present a trophy at the Scouts flying-school.

I must reiterate the comment of someone else: Hot diggity! Some of these shots are so good, but I particularly like compilotpotters' crowded WW1 sky.

Is that a DH4(x4) in the middle? I think that one went right over most people's heads... Just for your interest, here is a photo of the DH4 that was present on the airfield, but not on display. What aircraft will eat Mosquitos and Moths for lunch? Iwi the Kiwi! I see the Security people no longer wear Hi-viz vests. Cheers, Brett

I was amused by the fact that someone has added blue kiwis to the RAAF Vampire. It almost looks like a zap!
