I was amused by the fact that someone has added blue kiwis to the RAAF Vampire. It almost looks like a zap! Well that would explain the ones facing backwards!

I don't care what anyone says about its nose, that Venom is bloody gorgeous! It was so awesome to finally see one at an airshow again after all these years, and the noise it makes is so sweet, especially when it was tucked in with the two Vampires and the Mosquito.

The display the RNZAF Boeing 757 did on the practice day was very good. Quite surprising how the aircraft can do those manuvers.

So where was the Avenger...DC-3...? Avenger in the middle of being repainted into an RNZAF scheme right now. I'm not sure of the whereabouts of the Warbirds DC-3 though.

Well I had a blast going there on Sunday. Perfect weather and some great flying. Good to meet up with Dave H again after a long time and also see Ryan. The Mossie was the star of the show but there is actually one (little) aircraft that STOLE my heart and I just couldn't get away from !!

The display the RNZAF Boeing 757 did on the practice day was very good. Quite surprising how the aircraft can do those manuvers. I was arriving for the second time that day in the afternoon and as we approached from the north, we saw the grey sleek aircraft climb up steeply "out of the trees" and bank to his left seemingly on his wingtip. Made me gasp and exclaim! He must have made a high speed pass and then pull up sharply. Perhaps someone had said that was too much! All I saw was the underside of the plane and the jet engines... I didn't see that happen on Sunday but as I missed Sat afternoon for an untimely funeral, so I don't know what that performance was like. It was very spectacular - what I saw on Friday though!

When the Nieuport taxied past, the distinctive smell of castor oil filled the nostrils...

I finally sorted out some pics onto Flickr - my different view on some things... Sorry, a bit nervous... shot too late - actually out of focus! (arrival 10:55 Friday) With the rich fuel setting for landing, she made a lot of backfiring noises once touched down and throttled off... And here is the Control Tower, with commentators beneath... Jealous he got such a cool ride for 20mins! And this is the obvious place for Vampire pilots to place their chips and drink... Throwing her around in perfect control... Dave Phillips and an impressive display... John Bargh had some fun through the weekend in the Nieuport with the Rotary engine pop-popping away... And finally a large well presented mobile gun.

The FV 433 105mm Self Propelled gun is indeed well-presented, but it was British Army, post war, so why the re-enacters pictured choose to wear German gear is a bit of a mystery!

I would just like to thank everyone for all the awesome photos that have been posted on this thread. They certainly make-up for not being able to attend myself. Looks like it was an amazing weekend. Well done everyone:)
Nick.

Yes, I was wondering how you managed to see the shows from under the trailer there Ando! ;D ;D
The commentators were in the high position on top of the containers with the green windbreak behind (probably not breaking the prevailing wind!).

Did anyone else see the amzaing air display that the black sun umbrella did on the Sunday? It was soaring in an updraft above the gold pass area and was flying inverted, very skilful display, almost like a ballet. It had many of us chuckling.

Did anyone else see the amzaing air display that the black sun umbrella did on the Sunday? It was soaring in an updraft above the gold pass area and was flying inverted, very skilful display, almost like a ballet. It had many of us chuckling. I had a “grandstand view” (literally) of the umbrella taking off from the pole it was attached to, including the desperate attempt of the people sitting at that table to catch it before it got away. Naturally, being in the back (top) row of the grandstand, as well as the takeoff, I got to see the landing outside the gold pass area.
However, I didn't take any photographs of that particular unscheduled aerial display (it wasn't in the programme).
