Why would it be odd to paint the aircraft first? My thinking is I would paint after everything is installed, but looking back I'm not sure why I said that as at WAW we regularly painted the airframe very early on. Back to KA114!

Do I sense a collective, holding-of-breath?

Do I sense a collective, holding-of-breath? Yeah, right, I suspect so, but....this is an aircraft of proven design that used to fly, and given that it has been brought to its current state by some pretty serious-minded and very talented people then it will fly again. It'll be all right on the night as they say, but the knowledge of what has been achieved here won't stop me having my fingers and toes and everything else cross-able, err...crossed!

Dave Do you know if they are going to be selling any T/shirts, caps etc at or before the airshow? I reckon they will sell like hotcakes so long as they are not overpriced.

I am not certain if anything like that is actually happening Richard, but it has been discussed. I do know that there will likely be some full size (A1) posters available. I will try to find out more. You have to rememebr anything like this requires money, and is a risk.

Actually, a quick show of hands - as a survey - would people here be keen on Mosquito First Flight themed T-shirts, caps, or other such things? Would you actually buy them if on the day?

Yeah, I'd buy a suitable cap, but beware of extortionist prices, because I'll walk away just as quickly! This is a unique occasion, never to be seen again in NZ, and a cap or a t-shirt would sell.

I would also be interested in merchandise if available...

I am a been there buy the cap and t/shirt person BUT the cap must have the plane on it and of good quality. If suitably priced I would buy more than one. I have a collection of over 30 caps mainly aviation themed and am pretty fussy For stockist a caps in Auckland try out Promotional source or Headwear stockist. My firm deals with both. For T/shirts check out Fashion Biz. All of these firms are wholesalers.

Personally I wouldn't want a cap, and would prefer a badge of some sort to a T-shirt. Am keen to get something however.

What if shirts were made with the event's poster art on them? Just a thought.

Would absolutely love Mossie first flight gear especially if also available to those of use who can't make it on the day. I'm more a fan of the less literal type of design (as opposed to a shirt that says "Mosquito" and has a pic of one on it). The second t-shirt image is more along my lines. Something with the Mossie on it and either the owner's logo or the restorer's logo (or both) to accompany it. Vintage Wings Of Canada do an excellent range of t-shirts for their aircraft. That type of thing - www.vintagewingsmembers.ca/estore/index.cfm?categoryId=1

I'd be more than happy with a t-shirt featuring some derivation of the poster artwork - why re-invent the wheel? (Assuming you can get the rights to reproduce it)
