Great pics as always, and thanks as well for the real time updates from the event. Exquisite torture for those of us who did not make it.

Thank you everyone for some nice shots and hopefully some more will be posted soon. The Spitfire seems to be doing some extremely low passes especially when taking into account its so soon after being back in the air , some of those low banking topsides photos are bloody impressive ..... even more so than the Corsair that I remember from 2013. Has anyone got some pictures of the FW190 incident or post recovery, thank heavens the pilot is OK, I remember seeing the Venom come off the runway in a squall at Wairarapa, in 2012 I think , and its a sobering reminder of some of the inherent risks. Weather does not seem to have been as kind to photography as the last show (?), and there does not seem to be the same breadth of aircraft types , especially WW1, or is that simply because not enough photos have been posted as yet ( Hint ). Looking forward to some more posts and I am commencing the saving of pennies for the 2017 show. By the way any word on the status of the proposed museum extension ?

There was no need for the emergency crash/fire [RNZAF from Woodbourne incidentally] to attend the grass fire, because it was very quickly under control by people with back-pack water sprays rural fire service style. There were also two water spray trucks from somewhere, so why commit the only major fire vehicle when there were aircraft still in the air? Yes , sorry being confusing in my initial statement . I didnt mean to suggest that the RNZAF crash tender should have been sent to the grass fire , just that those that did go seemed to take awhile to get put into action ( and the fire was moving toward that fence line pretty fast )

The close formation routine by John Romain (P-40E) and Keith Skilling (Corsair) was one of the absolute highlights of the show. It was the best I have seen since the Hannas used to fly at NZ airshows. I hope Mr Romain returns to NZ many more times to show off his skills.
I'd also be very interested to see if anyone caught the Fw190 incident on video, please. Contact me off-forum if you don't wish to share it here.

Also, Sunday's display by Doug Brooker in the Spitfire man-handling it through aerobatic maneuvers and low-level 360 degree high G turns within the aerodrome boundary, the two Yak-3s energetic display, and the 'Fokker Venetian Convention' imposing a quietly-surreal low level shadow over the crowd on each of 4 or 5 passes which I found sobering after G. Orphan's comments about what it was like for Allied troops in the trenches, unfamiliar with aeroplanes. PREDATORS

Weather Sunday morning especially was dull, it improved in the afternoon when at least the sun was on the aircraft, even if the background was grey clouds. WWI was lacking variety in comparison to other years, basically what TVAL brought back from Australia, black Fokker Dr.I, new Albatros D.Va, Nieuport 11, 'Peggy' Pup. The last three didn't fly Saturday (and I don't think the last two flew on Sunday either). It was announced at the dinner that fund-raising targets had been met, and the next stage was 'go', expected ready for 2017.

It was tight for sure almost like they were flying a single composite plane Apologies for the quality and the prop effect I only took my vidcam and this is taken with the Still photo function

I'm just home after a fantastic weekend. Well done to the organisers and all of the participants for putting on the best airshow I have ever been to in NZ, without a doubt. The place is just so friendly and full of surprises. Great to catch up with so many forum members over the weekend, but somehow I never managed to catch up with Dave! Sorry about that Dave. Great photos coming through as usual guys.

Some wonderful captures from all round guys, thanks very much from those of us who couldn't make it! The final flypast looked like a sight and sound from WWII itself... I'm a little surprised no Avenger though. I guess Wanaka next year will be a good one, what with many ex-AFC machines back here and flying now. I've already started to save the pennies!!

I wouldn't care to try and pick the best Airshow I have been to in NZ but this one is right up there for sure and a great credit to the Organisers and Participants at every Level. It has certainly set a Bench mark! Equally there were so many highlights which made it Great from start to finish. I personally was rapt to see the Mk XIV Spitfire back in the air after so long. It was pleasing to see such open access to the Spitfire on Sunday Morning. But John Lamont stayed focussed on the Pre-Flight in spite of the distractions

The rumours of Kermit's presence are totally correct - ErrolC and met him as he was looking over the Albatros on Friday! He could also be found in the MAC bar. I was away from the airfield for one hour on Friday visiting forumite DeaneB, when I got back I was told I'd "missed the excitement". I'm glad I missed it, but at the same time I'm yet to see the FW190 fly. Everyone had a different story on how bad it was but I'm optimistic Too many great things to talk about. NH799 is probably the top for me - its arrival, and watching Sir Tim as it displayed on Saturday. Superb! He also got a standing ovation at last night's award dinner and gave a great speech. Best show I've ever been to.

Yeah, I chatted with Kermit for about 10 mins. He's so sociable and obliging when it comes to plane talk!

Not as impressive as the final Spitfire flyby on Saturday (which was fantastic) but I still loved it (and the crowd did to) - this is something that you'd never see over this side of the ditch!
Shot with a hand held Gopro so quality isn't so great - but captures the moment

The Avenger took off for the final flypast , but returned immediately - some sort of tech issue . Must have been minor as they flew it home . I saw the Avenger take off and climb out with the wheels staying down. I turned to my wife and said, "I think he's having problems with his landing gear". Seconds later Jim Rankin's voice came over the radio saying he was having gear retraction problems and was coming back to land. He asked the display controller for a gear check to make sure it was down and landed with no issues. Brendon Deere later posted on FB that it was a minor hydraulic issue and was fixed in time for the trip home to Ohakea.
