When did you get that photo of me looking at my camera with such concentration, Mark?? You should have come and said gidday! Hi Dave, Spotted you on the trailer as we were passing through to the other end of the field, was going to return and say hello but ended up going to the museum and did not see you after that. You had the next best position on the field apart from the Gold pass stand.

Mark Griffin Breathtaking photos mate, amongst the best I have seen on this forum. I like the black and white ones and the various grain and tint applications..I will be exploring similar effects after seeing yours as it adds so much both to portrait shots and machinery. Love the colour topsides of the Corsair and Anson and the Spitfire about to go verticle. Your colour shots seem to have some sort of effect on them ?..care to share Once again ...very very nice. Dino Hi Dino, Appreciate the kind words, This forum has many photographers amongst its members who are very good and produce some stunning stuff. Camera settings I use -0.3 compensation for all my shots for greater saturation, then Lightroom apply a little more contrast and a dab of clarity, then go to the camera calibration in L/R and apply blue primary saturation to +38 for the picture to pop if you know what I mean. Hope this helps a little. Regards Mark

If you are referring to the Yak-3s, there is no way that a briefing would include 'yep, feel free to fly over the crowds'. History is littered with deaths resulting from an aircraft incident that plows into the crowds. These days all turns are away from crowds and no display may fly over the crowd. You are correct. This is being investigated. Does anyone have any footage of the FW-190 incident? We have our timelines, but a single continuous piece of footage ties everything together nicely.

It looks like Jerry Chisum in the Classic Wings Nieuport - is it? And who flew the Pup? It was a real joy to see these three flying at Omaka.

Mark Griffin Breathtaking photos mate, among the best I have seen on this forum. Dino I second that! Mark did you take any photos of any of the aircraft during the twilight display? It was probably getting too dark for a decent photo but I wanted to see if anyone had a photo of Auster AZF (that carried "Nancy Wake") for the owner. Cheers Baz

Not sure if its been mentioned here before , but a few of us at the airshow were discussing what scale the V1 is ( or even if its full size ) . Aparently its approximatly %75 - %80 ( its probably not built fully to scale anyway due to constraints caused by having to actually fly , but its around three quarters the size of the real thing )-- still pretty impressive !

Well done to all of those who have posted photos so far, is great to see things that some of the organizers never got to see. Of course we have a few things to work on, we always do as does every other airshow, Omaka is very quiet right now as everyone charges the batteries following a very draining few weeks and months for some. In regards to the V1, one person very well known with aviation around the world was amazed when he saw the V1 fly at Classic Fighters, in fact he said it was the coolest display he had ever seen anywhere seen which was great to hear. He never thought he would see the day and loved the fact a Spitfire was tied into the display as well. When the idea for a flying V1 was discussed at one of our early show meetings I wouldn't say I was a doubter but wondered if it could even be done. The photo below was taken on an early test flight and my jaw hit the ground when I saw it fly, then of course it needed to be launched from the rail which made for nervous viewing first time out but the designers, builders, and pilot were confident and they were right to be as the flight was flawless. Can tell you their were a lot of very proud people when it flew during the show and we never broke it!!! Just goes to show what can be achieved by a few hard working people with a great idea. So keep posting the photos everyone there are loads of people who are really enjoying it. I took a lot of air to air photos, not so many from the ground as that is one area of photography that I have been pulling back and will continue to do so on as time is so tight these days. Will post a few more after the next edition of Classic Wings is out. The low pass from the XIV was deafening but bloody awesome!!!
