The rain stayed away apart from a few drops here and there. The flying was nice - I'm fascinated by the patterns the wingtip smoke generators on Steadfast make. I could have done without the skirmish in the dark and the fire dancers, but those fireworks were worth the wait. The best synchronised music and fireworks display I've ever seen. Amazing.

I could have done without the skirmish in the dark and the fire dancers, Whilst I agree that they certainly werent highlights of the day ,I found them a whole lot better than sitting there doing nothing wilst waiting for it to get fully dark . Its an hour or so that must be really hard for organisers to fill in , and I think these acts were better than some Ive seen in the past . Just my opinion though .

Nice morning, wind might be too much for the WW1 flyers? Snipe ran up but didn't taxi out last night, unfortunately.

Great day out in the sun! Spit XIV vs V-1 was my moment of the day, but the whole thing was a win really. Weather looking iffy for tomorrow, but even if we get no further flying I'd be a happy chappy.

They were probabally much further apart than it looked , but it sure looked close from where I was ( hope someone got a picture of them both in the same shot ) . Weather tomorrow should be okay ( I say optimistically ) - just look at what happened on Friday .

After watching Gert and Ryan struggle with the Bleriot's engine last show, it was great to see it play its part in the Pioneer race. Bleriot hop! by Errol Cavit, on Flickr

It's another great airshow, as Classic Fighters always is. I am in the media tent recharging the camera battery and can hear the Harvards overhead. Man they sound loud!
Highlights of the show so far are definitely the three Spitfires, the Black Falcons, the Yak 3's, seeing the V1 flying again, the Bristol Freighter and seeing them pick up some kids for a ride during the displays, the Fokkers, the Snipe, Noel's Ryan STM.... hmmm, there are so many highlights. But most of all it's been catching up with so many friends, including quite a few from Aussie who I met on the WOA Tour.

...compared with other Classic Fighter shows there is a report-famine from fellow forumites for us enthusiast-peasants unable to attend this year.

Bloody good! As tends to happen, nearly all the clouds skidded around the hills. It's a bit chilly, however! Lots of variety, good recovery from the heavy rain before the show, friendly attitude as always. Well done the team.

On behalf of the organizing committee I would like to thank everyone who came to the show, your support was very much appreciated. It has been a difficult show this time mainly due to weather, having to contend with a storm that some suggested as being a "50 year storm" that simply did not happen had an effect on the numbers but all in all the crowd was pretty good but am not sure of the number yet. We had lots of good dispays this year, thanks to all of the owners, pilots and engineers who keep these aircraft in the air. Thanks also to the people who set up the infastructure, vendors and especially to all of the voluteers who gave up their weekends to keep the show running. In regards to photos I am sure many will show up, those attending will need to at least get home or a start! I will just post the three below that we put on the FB page. The top one was taken last night of Liz flying the Tr/IX Spitfire and Brendon Deere was in the back. What you can't see is the other two Spitfires in formation!

When I watched it live in 2015 it was powered by electric ducted fans (I think). What was the tech behind the added flames in the video above? Or am I seeing things that don't exist?

Chillier today, but (surely due to the truly righteous nature of the show) the rain held off until we got a gentle sprinkle at the tail end of the final display. I thought the Anson display today was great, almost aerobatic, as Kermit Weeks noted on the PA. All in all I had an excellent experience. The gold pass made me feel like a total VIP. Well worth it. Am I imagining things or did the V1 have pulsejet style flame coming out of the tail-pipe? When I watched it live in 2015 it was powered by electric ducted fans (I think). What was the tech behind the added flames in the video above? Or am I seeing things that don't exist? I'm pretty sure there's no flames, but there's certainly an orange glow which comes from the exhaust- maybe orange LEDs? It looked really amazing. Speaking of flames though - did anyone catch the flames coming out of Harvard 15 at the top of a stall turn today? I guess it was just the fuel from the smoke system having a moment, but I was a bit freaked out for a moment.

There is a very interesting article within the airshow program on the design and upgrade of the V1 for this years show. This includes info on the glow from the tailpipe - yes, LEDs.

I have a shot with the V-1 light visible as a blur on Friday night - neat! Same on the Harvard flame, realised after a couple of seconds that it was just a burp. And in the ongoing saga of Errol's transport hassles, I knew it wasn't going to be good when the pilot was hand-turning the Q300 prop while on the phone - awaiting engineer to check after birdstrike
