As a side story, when I rocked up to the Hertz counter at YSSY to get the keys for the Camry I'd booked, the bloke behind the counter offered me a $24 a day upgrade to a 5.0L V8 Mustang over and above what I was quoted for the Camry. I said, "let me think about it yes." Since I couldn't arrive at Temora in a P-51 I thought it would be fitting to arrive there in a road going namesake. I would have stuck with the Camry.

Flyinkiwi. I think I saw that same car parked outside the Rockdale Ford dealer (near YSSY). You didn't break it did you? ;-)

However, we did complain that the drivers side windscreen wiper needed adjusting because it was hitting the trim at the end of its travel. Maybe they were fixing it?

You are right Calum the lighting was tough on the Saturday, I photographed the evening show on the Friday and left most of Saturday. If only that blue sky out to the left of the field had moved across a bit! Nice line up shot, they had plenty of eye candy! 43242343 by Gavin Conroy, on Flickr 65465464 by Gavin Conroy, on Flickr

I could have taken these photos.......except there would only be smoke trails and no Harvards and probably either just a nose or a tail in the second one! Lovely shots Gavin!

Great shot of the Harvards Gavin. And yeah I was really hoping that cloud would burn off.
I'm hoping Omaka next year will have some better conditions

I was going past on the train and one the same colour was parked out the back of the dealer. I would think it’s a rare colour but who knows what Ford ppl think.. being a Holden person myself er long ago.

I have finally found a bit of time to start to pull together some of the better, passable photos that I took at WDU 2018 at Temora. As others have commented, the late afternoon sun in your face makes photography very tricky on the Friday and the cloud cover on the Saturday was not helpful for photography at all. Altho it did make the temperature and conditions for the audience a little better than they could have been if it had been full sunshine all day. A mixed bag of some of my photos from the two days follows. Friday Flightline 2 by Colin Ford, on Flickr Fighter Section Taxi by Colin Ford, on Flickr Heritage Fighter FLypast Edited by Colin Ford, on Flickr Heritage Fighter Break by Colin Ford, on Flickr Roulettes Opening Break Friday by Colin Ford, on Flickr Roulette Cross WInd Friday 2 by Colin Ford, on Flickr Roulette Oppo Pass by Colin Ford, on Flickr Classic Fighter Foursome 3 by Colin Ford, on Flickr Fighter Four Hi Side by Colin Ford, on Flickr Caribou Approach by Colin Ford, on Flickr Aussie Hurricane by Colin Ford, on Flickr Steadfast Sunday Trails by Colin Ford, on Flickr Steadfast Run In by Colin Ford, on Flickr Nanchang Break by Colin Ford, on Flickr Inverted 52 by Colin Ford, on Flickr Hornet CLimb by Colin Ford, on Flickr Hornet Head On by Colin Ford, on Flickr Snooks 6 Mustang by Colin Ford, on Flickr Steadfast Sunday by Colin Ford, on Flickr China Doll by Colin Ford, on Flickr How Close by Colin Ford, on Flickr All he needed was the stogie tucked in one corner of his mouth and then we would have known that Wild Bill Kelso had traded his P-40 for a P-51.

You got a couple of Kiwis in the first photo, on the left was Bevan Dewes and myself talking with Ross Pay. And the last photo, I did tell Cam when he arrived he looked like one mean SOB with that beard, helmet, and sun glasses. Had been trying to get this photo for a while with the smoke looking dark in the middle, didn't work out well at Omaka but now have the numbers needed in the memory bank. 43432423 by Gavin Conroy, on Flickr

Nice one Gavin. A number of the aircraft and pilots at Temora used smoke to good effect. Steadfast over the Top by Colin Ford, on Flickr This was possibly a few seconds earlier than your photo. In particular the oh so squeezy and cramped nature of the premium grandstand seating and lack of creature comforts in reasonable proximity to one large premium grandstand. Response from organisers has been accepting of the comments and a desire to do better in 2020. An interesting note is that it has been suggested that they consider a dedicated grandstand and associated area for the dedicated pro-am photographers in the crowd, where the wielding of large lenses and space to manouever to "get the shot" would be part of the arrangements - without annoying the general airshow watchers.
