And some little yachts and droptank boats? The RNZAF has heaps of them.

Yeah a sunny day to dry first coat of gloss medium on seascape. The white of the gel is disappearing fast which is a pity as once first coat is dry over the blue paint I have to add the whitecaps and surf by dry brushing white on the wave/ripple tops fullsizeoutput_18d5 by tankienz, on Flickr

what about a refuelling barge in case a Catalina happens to drop by? I plan to have a 1/144th Cat flying overhead (its on the way from seller). Any photographs of said refuelling barges as I've read of them being used by PT boats as well?

The first hole in the ocean done. Carefully cut surface with craft knife then saw deeper with serrated kitchen knife and finally grind out with Dremel rotary sanding attachment. fullsizeoutput_18e2 by tankienz, on Flickr I did this outside on the deck as there was small chips of expanded resin everywhere.

Dry brushing ended up looking a little windier than I was thinking of but I'm happy with result. More work to go once the PT hull is in place then the wave/hull interaction for both hulls will be sorted out. fullsizeoutput_18e9 by tankienz, on Flickr Can you see there is one more coconut tree. Five more tree trunks stared last night.

Brilliant effect. And perhaps not windy, it is the wake from a Catalina

Well it's not from my Catalina kit which left Auckland six days ago and has not touched down anywhere since. Impressive endurance but I'd like to have words with the navigator.

There's enough trees there to be self seeding. You might have to go round in a few months and do some pruning...

Five more tree trunks stared last night. I for one are really enjoying this build, you have gone and done so much detail. But if I could say one little thing with the windy look. Are you able to lessen the wind effect on the lee side of the floating pontoon? That side would have less "white caps" because of it being sheltered from the landing barge and pontoon. Which in turn will help reduce some windage. Other than that it's bloody awesome.

Very good point. I will remove the whitecaps in wind shielded areas.
