Yep. 'Qualifying speed will determine starting positions for the Thursday Heat Races - the fastest qualifier, the pole position, etc. The positions for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday races will be determined by the race speed or finishing position from the previous day.'

Well that was disappointing... Didn't even see Full Noise on screen until after the race was done.

I did read that two jets collided earlier in the day, one losing part of its wing, but they both got down safely

Dreadnought won by a long way, Graeme was even lapped by him on lap five or so. Full Noise was 7th of 7. flic.kr/p/28jSwW1

No, it just means he starts from seventh place tomorrow in Heat 3A.

Am I correct in understanding that Full Noise will race in the Unlimited Finals Gold, Silver, or Bronze on Sunday, according to how things play out in the Heats Thursday, Friday, and Saturday?
Last year Full Noise didn't make it in time for the qualifying time runs, so started last in the Unlimited Bronze heat, which they won. This bumped them to the Silver heat, which they also won. Ditto to the Gold final on Sunday.
This year they made it to the qualifying which allowed them to start on the grid for their first race-heat according to their qualifying time. But I'm unsure if this was in Unlimited Bronze, Silver, or Gold. Dreadnought, Argonaut, and Miss America all appear to be the fastest ones to beat, which would mean they would be in Unlimited Gold. They all raced with Full Noise today.
Can someone enlighten me/us?

Heat 3A is the last Unlimited qualifier, deciding who starts where for the Gold final race on Monday our time. Graeme and Full Noise have been in the Gold group since the start this year (woohoo!) and are highly unlikely to lose their spot in the Gold final - I think they’re in there for good barring any technical or pilot issues.
The Heat numbers - 3A and 2B for example - mean it’s the third race for the top qualifiers (A) or second race for the next-slowest batch (B). The letters effectively equate to Gold (A), Silver (B) and Bronze (C). That’s what we had for the last couple of days and tomorrow, the main races are the Gold Final etc.
The pilot who wins the Bronze class final can be bumped up into Silver, and likewise Silver into Gold, I think by pilot choice. As far as I’m aware you can’t go back so once you go up that’s where you stay.
