Getting close now! It is not showing on FlightRadar 24 but it is on Flight Aware.

Just popped up on FlightRadar24 after crossing the South Pacific ADSB dead-spot... About 40 minutes out.
I can see a 757, a Poseidon, and a Kingair all flying around NZ (not near Auckland though). I wonder if they'll put up an arrival escort flight...?

I see the RNZAF have put a Mako chopper up. Hopefully that's the video / photo coverage of the arrival sorted. Is anyone Livestreaming?

Thing that I noticed was how quiet it was compared to the H's. It passed over me at about 1500 ft and it was so strange to have so little noise. Anyway, finally it is here.

Yes the C-130Js are a lot quieter and less smokey. I noticed that when the RAAF one was displaying at Wings Over Wairarapa.

I guess the LUH109 had been positioned to get some photos of the landing. Flight Radar showed it hovering near the C130 when it taxied in to the ramp

I remember when those US Hercs were here last year the difference was immediately noticeable as they were flying together in formation.

Apparently the ferry crew were RNZAF members, according to the Minister of Defence, contrary to what was said earlier in this thread that it would be a Lockheed crew.

There's been all sorts of wild speculation on C-130J arrival and disposal of C-130H. Very entertaining. Especially the conviction which some people push their point, with no solid reference to back it up.

Is it time for a new thread, the C-130J in RNZAF service?

According to the Minister it isn't being handed over until next week. Wasn't that what happened in the US a couple of weeks ago?

Is it time for a new thread, the C-130J in RNZAF service? They better announce the 757 replacement soon so we’ve got something to keep us going for another few years!
