Almost finished gun ports. Waiting for some parts to arrive to make the ball pivot in the leading edge. Mock fitout of the port landing gear. The black hose will be part of the machine gun heating system.

Looking forward to seeing the gear, complicated beauty on a P40. Those bevelled gears keep me awake at night. Have spent numerous hours researching. Trying to find the right internal diameter with the correct tooth pitch is the challenge. Then there is the whole challenge of cutting a whole one and mounting the two parts to the leg and the support.

Looks like "Gloria" made it onto Santa's good list. Early presents arrived this week. M3 drive shaft running from a planetary gearbox with a stepper motor x 2. The other one is a stepper motor running through a planetary gear box with a reduction gear. Stepper motor control board. M3 universal joint for the landing gear down indicator. M3 helical drive shafts running through a planetary gearbox and stepper motor. These hopfully will get the main and most likely the tail wheel retracts moving. M4 coarse and fine pitch drive shafts. These may end up in the main gear retraction drives. 32g and 30g wire for the nav, landing light, recognition light circuits. And some tools for shaping the machine gun access door panels and other blister covers.

Have you ever thought about videoing some of your craftsmanship as you shape the metal and create this amazing model aeroplane? I reckon a YouTube series would be very popular, although making it will slow down your modelling process.

Moving onto the landing gear fairings. Been dreading these for a while. These are some plastic ones from a kit I got many years ago. Will use these to help with the forming of the nose fairing. Mockup of how it should all fit together.

Machine gun barrel blast tubes with swivel ball fitting. Machine gun and barrel fitting into the blast tube. The front section of the gun passing through web #3 will be removed and the barrel will end up being almost the correct length.
