I've just built the Italeri (Flying Kiwis) 'Dak as NZ3503 for a 'client'. Its been a good chance to try out my paint weathering skills & put to use some weathering pencils I have. The model has a few add-ons fom the Airfix C-47 I built as a DC-3 a few years ago, including ramps, bucket para-seats and stencil decals IMG_7407 by Harry Follas, on Flickr IMG_7432 by Harry Follas, on Flickr IMG_7405 by Harry Follas, on Flickr image2 by Harry Follas, on Flickr

Nice work but I am not convinced by that finflash, it is the wrong style. Did the decals come with the kit?

The wing roundel white/blue ratio is a little off as well. See the underwing b/w pic above for a better representation

Harry built this model for me - along with that awesome DC-6 NZ3632. See here: rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/30341/heller-dc-6-rnzaf He is a game-changar for me as I, once again, enjoy the fruits of modelling, albeit completed. See here: rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/29629/help-needed My pile of model aircraft was just that, an unbuilt pile and I had seriously contemplated getting rid of them all. No longer thanks to Harry. I was finally able to score this model a few years ago and my intention was always to built NZ3503 using the kit decals out of respect for the age of the kit. So it was MY decision to finish the model as is - although Harry & I agreed to alter the fin flash which he did by over- painting the original leaving the outline visible. There will also be an original Airfix Wellington and Mosquito built straight out of the box as a homage to the first New Zealand referenced plastic model kits. see here: rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/30177/mainly-raf-models-nz-connection
