Might be the last public outing for a Seasprite, if it makes it. Oh hell. Are they that bad?

I'm excited to see what TVAL's contribution to the air display will be, and I hope the weather cooperates for same on Saturday. Ditto mate - if it's a great line up I might be tempted to make the long journey!

I'm excited to see what TVAL's contribution to the air display will be What? And where did you see it? I think I could have phrased that better: "I'm excited to learn what TVAL's contribution to the air display will be" is a more accurate statement! I see nothing, I know nothing.

Well according to the rumours the Wildcats will be arriving here to replace them before the end of the year. I though the project was not even due to go to contract until 2025.

I'm only going by the rumours posted here on the forum by others. Maybe I shouldn't listen to them?

I think you have put this in the wrong thread, Errol? No, a return to flight mid-November is on track to appear at Wairarapa. I assume there are updates in the private FB Group, I would quote that if I could.

Would love to make one of these airshows one day look forward to people's photos.
Dave please move if this is the wrong place to ask, I seem to remember mention of the TVAL aeroplanes flying once a month to keep the pilots current, can anyone remind me which weekend of the month they do this, trying to plan a visit to view this in the future?
Thank you.....

The loan of a couple of Wildcats and their crews is just to get us through until the Seasprite replacement project delivers something in a few years time. Karman support for the Seasprite ends at the end of this year. I'm not sure how long they will keep some flying after that, but it will be a gradual rundown I'm guessing.

Thank you..... They usually practice on the last weekend of each month through the warm months, October to April usually. Not over winter. The practices are closed from the public in terms of getting up close, but you can get a good view from The Kittyhawk Cafe (which is now owned by WONZ Forum member Bevan Dewes and his fiancé Lucy Newell, so feel free to patronise the cafe whenever you can.)

Thanks Don, that makes the situation a little clearer. And it also reflects that the Seasprite operation is in some crisis if we are having to borrow foreign choppers to cover the shortfall. This confirms what people who are actually in the know were telling me nearly a year ago about the Seasprites. The sooner they are replaced, the better - Aussie knew what they were doing by dumping their ones by the sound of it.

The last post on their Facebook page with open dates/times are for early 2022 then the cafe is reopening Oct 2022. Is Hood aerodrome in a time warp?
