They usually practice on the last weekend of each month through the warm months, October to April usually. Not over winter. The practices are closed from the public in terms of getting up close, but you can get a good view from The Kittyhawk Cafe (which is now owned by WONZ Forum member Bevan Dewes and his fiancé Lucy Newell, so feel free to patronise the cafe whenever you can.) Thank tyou for the update Dave and others... Significant events like Christmas or airshows mean these get adjusted on occasion. I assume March 2024 will be 23/24th, rather than 30/31st as that is Warbirds Over Wanaka at Easter.

That will be from the previous ownership when Wairarapa Flying Tigers owned it and Mouse ran it.

I have let Bevan know the old page is still online. Hopefully it can get removed so the new one is the only one.

A heads up to all those driving from the north to the event. Transit NZ will have road works on SH2 between Eketahuna and Masterton on Mount Bruce during the Wings Over Wairarapa weekend, so allow extra time if you are driving south to Wings.

The TVAL aircraft and the Avenger seem to be missing off this list. Am I missing something here?? They've never (well, not the last few times) had the TVAL aircraft listed pre-show, it's concerned me before too!

The Avenger is still waiting on a new engine so it won't be there.

There are 2 Spitfires already on the list are you saying there could be three? Maybe NZ 1037/ZK-ENA of course.

A new Wings Over New Zealand Show hot off the press. WONZ 290: Wings Over Wairarapa 2023. In this episode I speak with Tracy Dixon, the Airside Manager for the Wings Over Wairarapa Air Festival, which will take place over the 24th to 26th of November 2023 at Hood Aerodrome, Masterton. Tracy gives a preview of what airshow goers can expect to see. Highlights will include the airshow debut of the RNZAF’s new Boeing P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft, the return to the airshow scene after more than six years of Goodyear FG-1D Corsair NZ5648 (ZK-COR) in a new RNZAF paint scheme, the T-28 Trojan pair, and the new Legends Aviation display team. Here is the show link: cambridgeairforce.org.nz/WONZShow/2023/11/wonz-290-wings-over-wairarapa-2023/How will the Corsair look when it debuts its new paint scheme? Tracy Dixon

Weather forecast isn't looking that great again, hopefully things change. I've just changed my return flight from Sunday morning to Sunday evening to increase my chances. Looking forward to it!

Unfortunately, the wind has been forecast to be gusting southerlies (I only looked at Saturday, so Sunday may be different), often up to 50 ~ 60 kph, so does that preclude seeing any of the TVAL aircraft fly (if the wind is that strong)?
