That's a new helicopter aiming point for southern arrivals, basically the previous one in the same location wasn't the 'standard' ICAO marking so it's been redesigned and made more permanent. Can confirm that Citation is a bit of a pain when it departs and arrives because of runway occupancy while its backtracking, but it's not the most active of the Ardmore business jets so it's a relatively occasional inconvenience. The big Bombardier bizjet which is sometimes there has to do a similar thing.

Errol......what a wonderful little Taylor. There is a two ship Taylor display team in the UK now. Had the privilege of doing the commentary at Midlands Air Festival this year for their very first display. Very tidy indeed and lovely to see !!!

Him and a couple of others who I think have 'retired' from flying it. Most times I've heard it flying recently it's been Frank Parker. I got a quick shot of LOM parked up today, I see it has an Auckland owner now so perhaps it is going to be Ardmore based?

LOM had been for sale for some time so it's nice to hear it may have a new home.

ZEK has a pretty spectacular wingspan doesn't it.

Sure does. For anyone wondering, the taxiway is about 63m from the runway centreline, and the 680 has a wingspan of 22m

Plenty of GA at Ardmore on a hot weekend, lots of NZ Warbirds away at Art Deco. But The Dak, a Harvard, the Beaver etc still around. Still have a single-lane part of Corsair Lane. Have people noticed that the main loop road in the new housing is Mustang Lane? Ard24_1432_12h by Errol Cavit, on Flickr

I was FR24 watching some of the Warbirds aircraft returning to Ardmore from Napier after the Art Deco weekend. The Bird Dog (FYA) left about midday and was overhead Tokoroa when the Mustang (TAF) took off about an hour later. The Mustang overtook the Bird Dog at about Huntly. The advantage of cruising at over 200 knots!
