I see the Bücker Jungmann was on TV ONE News... seems to have had an engine failure after takeoff on RWY21 and ended up through the end fence... bugger!

I was in a briefing room in the aero club, happened to look out the window and saw it go past, I wandered out to watch since I hadn't seen one of those in the flesh before - unfortunately my next comment to the instructor around the corner was "you'd better come watch this, this plane is about to crash". Sure enough it did. Pretty unfortunate, from my very cursory look around it appeared to be probably repairable but the undercarriage was gone and the propeller broken in half, among other scrapes and dings.

It was identified as a Tiger Moth... close enough! www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11203621 A vintage aircraft that left the runway today at a south Auckland airport suffered some damage, but those on board are okay. Emergency services were called to Ardmore Airport about 11am when a Tiger Moth got into difficulties. It appeared the aircraft had a mechanical failure as it attempted to take off, said Inspector Tony Edwards of northern police communications. "It did get airborne for a short period of time. Initial indications are that the engine may have stopped." Two people on board were checked by ambulance staff at the scene and were not injured. Mr Edwards said he understood the Tiger Moth was damaged, most likely around the wheels or undercarriage. The Civil Aviation Authority was looking into the incident, he said.

The nice weather has certainly brought a lot of aircraft out of hangars and the ones not in hangars have been very active! Nice pics keep em coming. Cheers, Colin
