A good clip there from 7Sharp. Is that a Devon cockpit I see? I can't see Bruce's photos either for some reason, which is a shame, just the dreaded "PB give us money" picture. they are Photobucket pictures, so you'll need to run the add on.

Yes Baz, it was interesting to see both roundels prominently displayed. The RNZAF ones were outboard where we would expect to see them but the bigger roundel was almost right against the wing fold line. some council worker painting the playground hadnt read the spec....

Pardon my ignorance but what were the colours. I do not know but in my mind's eye I see (wish) the top colour to be emerald green..... probably totally incorrect but ..... Red top, silver below

This 1963 photo shows large numbers of P40s and Corsairs near the smelter, situated east of the current Terminal, Near Mystery Creek Rd (Beside Tony's dump site) Looking at other photos from the 1963 series I cant find anything around the Aero Club / CTC area. It is worth noting that the roads were substantially altered between 1963 and 1974 and the Runways likewise realigned. Retrolens 1963

I'm not sure whether this link from Retrolens works, but its a 1953 Aerial photo of the Airfield. use the magnifying tool to see the aircraft along the Northern and Eastern side. Retrolens

I'm fairly certain its up the right way too. In addition to all the clues like the flaps etc, It seems to be sitting up off the bottom too - on its floats I'd suggest!

In the photo above, the clue is the Waikato Aero Club Hangar in the background (Now Central Aero engineering). The present runway is a similar alignment to the one running Top left to Centre right. Ignore the Other runways in the picture; they have all been realigned. The Current terminal would sit nearly opposite the WAC hangar, probably a bit to the Right. That would make the patch where the aircraft are sitting the area between the terminal car park and the Pacific Aerospace taxiway. Airport road was built in the 1960s right through the middle of that (About where the P40s sit in front of the Venturas) with the remainder on the other side of the road near the Lochiel Golf Course and the Fieldays access road.

Like it a lot! Needs some silver fabric patches along the rib tapes of the lower wing centre section between the Cabanes - I put them on there! (We didnt have time to touch up the paint finish for several months, during which it was at several airshows, including the Auckland Air Expo...)

Another tip that I found useful when I visited in 2013 - over airshow weekend accommodation in Cambridge is very scarce. You can however book a room in a University hall of residence using universityrooms.com .The Airshow is held during term break, so there are plenty of very tidy rooms available for very little. Also, if staying in Cambridge, don't expect to be able to drive into the town centre to get a meal - There's no parking nearby and every street is really narrow and crowded. I developed pretty bad blisters from standing around on hot tarmac at the Air show (all the nice grass sitting spots were taken up by people with big windbreak / sunshades) so the walk into town was unfortunately quite unpleasant. make sure you take appropriate footwear! I had a rental car, but used the park and ride airshow bus service from the transport centre by the Motorway - that worked really well and reduced queueing significantly.

I think people may be a bit unsure what exactly you are meaning by "Filming New Zealands Aircraft History". Thats a very generalised statement, and filming "history" is hard because it has already happened! What do you want to achieve? What assistance do you need - How exactly do you want people to help? Do you want people to give you tips about what to film? supply footage? Talk about something?
I'm involved in Video production myself, and any project like this needs a clear and specific framework to work around, especially if you need to communicate it to others working on the project with you.

I cant find any reference to this one being in the topdressing trials (2504 was the main aircraft). If it was, it would be in Target tug config, with the Modified fuel tank as the hopper. If that tank could be replicated....

Was 2539 one of the Topdressing trials Aircraft? if so, then thats the config it should be in, due to the significance that experiment had on the whole of New Zealand's history, geography and economy.

Is that shed on wheels??? That will be when they moved the hangar during the 1950s rebuild of Rongotai. jacked up on half a dozen small trucks and driven across the airfield / worksite. I have seen period newsreel footage of it (I think on the Archives NZ YouTube Channel) but I cant find it to reference.
