I have created this thread after Dave said he was interested in aviation in the Nelson/Golden Bay area. This is for anyone to post news on aviation in the Nelson region on, wether in Nelson or not. Firstly, for people interested, the local Young Eagles club, belonging to the aero club, is meeting on Waitangi day to go up in a club aircraft and drop non-explosive bombs on a target on the runway. Young Eagles is for people ages 9-15 and meets once a month. Contact your local aero club for details.

Omaka would be great. Some from Nelson would only be there for one day though, so if you're staying in Blenheim the whole weekend then maybe you could span it over the three days. This particular airshow could be the greatest! Also, for those who haven't been before, I highly recommend the Aviation Heritage Museum. It has an excellent collection of WW1 planes and beautiful displays.

Ever since 2005 my family have gone there and I believe that it is this airshow that kindled my intrest in aviation. This is the highlight of every 'odd' year for me, and I am looking forward to taking my new friend from Germany along to give him a taste of aviation. I as a thirteen year old an really privileged to live in Nelson, so that I have easy access to an airshow that could rival Wanaka. ;D
