Makes you realise how hard it must of been to become an Ace and to be able to shoot down two or three aircraft in one mission with only around 15 secs of fire.
From what I know so far they used 325ib 500ib and 1,000ib bombs. What is a ''sand bomb''?
Also what is a Neutral blower?and why did it have to be tested at 14,000 ft.

Thanks Dave.
Heres a strange question,Would you know how long machine gun fire would last if you pressed the trigger? I saw it somewhere that you only have about 15 seconds of firing per mission.

Thanks Angel. Dave, the show was about peoples family war story's. In this episode it's about the Great Niece of "Pilot Officer Tony Boyd" from the RAAF and his life in the Airforce. They take Her to where he trained, fought died, and she gets to meet people he flew with including Squadron Leader Keith Lawrence. She also gets to fly a Tiger Moth and Spitfire the same plane her Great Uncle did in the Battle of Britain and Malta. They also give her Letters, photos and let her read Lawrence's logbook.Pretty much everything that would take me years to do they did in one episode. Also there is another episode, Episode Seven - "Flight Lieutenant Bill Healey 'The Great Escape'" Gathered around the television one afternoon, the Healey family was watching the classic Steve Mc Queen film, The Great Escape, in much the same way millions have enjoyed it. But this afternoon, in this family, it would be different. Great show! here is the link if you're interested. channelnine.ninemsn.com.au/intheirfootsteps/series1/

Anyone know of him?
The reason I ask is because he was featured in a show I watched. He was a Kiwi Spitfire Pilot in the Battle of Britain and Malta.

Thanks Mark.
Would the ones on the wings be rocket propelled or just drop bombs?

Yea USAAF sounds right, same as the P-38.
It could be from 12th FS USAAF.

Ok i'll admit you're right. Glad I didn't really bet money or I would of been broke.
The whole angle of it looks twisted, the left wing is pointing back and the back rudders are pointing to the right wing.

The bit where the guy was stuck in gun turret really hits you. One of the best shows on WWII I have ever seen, Loved it!
