I'm sure something like this would be a crowd-pleaser:
But possibly not this...:

And add to this: what you used to have in your collection, no longer have, and really regret the fact. Cos I'm sure theres lots there too!

I was on 2 Sqn when the T-bird (55?) did the wheels-up landing in 89. At the time I was running the Flight Store, and just caught the last bit of the landing, and watching Speil climbing out. Word had it that he went through a power of cigarettes for the remainder of the day! Those drop tanks sat in the hangar for ages, only to disappear when the sqn moved to Nowra. Actually, come to think of it there was a lot of "junk"in that hangar in the early '90s, seemed to be tolerated there more than in other hangars...

Just loving this story! Whats great is that so many different aspects are coming out there from people involved in one way or another. Not so much an urban myth now??

You'd lost me there till I saw 15yrs of Viz comics! Actually its a very good idea you've got here, and sometimes guys really arent aware how how much "treasure"they really have until its documented. Me, I'm not a collector, but SERIOUSLY wish I had kept stuff as I got hold of it. Most of my RNZAF stuff was given away when I left NZ, or just destroyed (including my uniform, hung on the clothesline, soaked in petrol and set on fire. Seemed like a good idea at the time ). Am interested so see just how much stuff you guys have, and how lucky you are to have kept it! (Actually I do still have my 2 sqn patches, including Project Kahu stuff.)

I would much rather see the Hudson cross the Tasman for the anniversary shows than any jets to be honest. Jet noise=appeal to the masses. Old prop plane=nice to see and has sentimental value but thats about it. Just sayin...

Bugger, it all went wrong and the Poms snuck back in. they defiantely did not deserve to win. I think you'll find total agreement there. What a shocker of a game, shame for the Argies really.

Depends who is running the country by then.... Which country: Australia, USA, New Zealand - or all of the above? ;D Good call. Better odds on change in the lucky country than here! Still got a few months to suck up to our old friends...

I'm wondering if NZ will be considered 'uncommie' enough for the RAAF or USN to bring their Super Hornets across the Tasman or Pacific to celebrate the RNZAF's 75th? ;D Depends who is running the country by then....

*sigh* Who the hell builds these boats?? Isnt there any pride in workmanship or something? This sort of nonsence seems to happen a lot and the result is that our hard-working and dedicated navy folks are made to look like chumps! GRRR

OK, so its really not that far away...(especially for those of us that HAVE to book leave well in advance ) do we have any confirmed rumours yet about the Ohakea show? I'd love to go, and show the kids where I was based etc, but would like it to be a real "once in a lifetime" that they'd remember for a long time!

The EMB 145 AEW&C is the most advanced and affordable Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft available on the market. It is the perfect blend of Embraer’s proven, reliable and cost-effective ERJ 145 platform with a unique, high-performance, multi-mode active phased-array AEW radar, a powerful command and control system and a comprehensive set of support systems like ESM, self-protection and communications, including data-links. Boy, that sounds like a sales talk if I ever heard one! ;D

Russ, we're in Tauranga and I'll foward this on to our school. My wife is the librarian there so will follow it up. With all the modern IT stuff that kids are into now, I know its getting increasingly popular (and easier!)to mate contacts overseas and share ideas etc. Regards, Nelson

It has to be a good sign that he bought you a Skyhawk model for your birthday at least. Have a daughter myself who's rapidly approaching 'that' age...not looking forward to it at all...might have to get the shotgun out and give it an oil Good to see I'm not the only one here in that situation....

Also if the debt is handed over to an agency (Baycorp still around?) then I guess they cant get credit anywhere either. So no online bulk buying of those hessian undies and leather self-flaggellation implements then...
